Gardens of Earthly Delights

"Friendship is a sheltering tree."
-- Samuel Taylor Coleridge

"Out of gardens grow fleeting flowers but lasting friendships."
--Beverly Rose Hopper

"But friendship is precious, not only in the shade,
but in the sunshine of life; and thanks to a benevolent
arrangement of things, the greater part of life is sunshine."
--Thomas Jefferson

"Friends are like the pillars on a porch. Sometimes they
hold you up, sometimes they lean on you, and sometimes
it's just enough to know that they are standing by."
--Author Unknown

"The kiss of the sun for pardon,
The song of the birds for mirth,
One is nearer God's heart in a garden
Than anywhere else on earth."
~Dorothy Frances Gurney, "Garden Thoughts"

"Earth laughs in flower."-- Ralph Waldo Emerson

"When you throw dirt, you lose ground."
Texan proverb

"The World is so empty if one thinks only of the mountains, rivers, and cities;
but to know someone who thinks and feels with us, and who, though distant
is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden."
--Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"In joy or sadness, flowers are our constant friends."
Kozuko Okakura

  4. You can reach the very depths of one's heart, and spirit of one's soul, just by reaching out to your keyboard. You are truly a God-send; an angel here who heals wounds without even touching the sick. God bless you, dear one, and thank you.

  11. I'm with life on bonnie lane, I really got a chuckle out of "When you throw dirt, you lose ground." I will add that to my faves. I don't know who the author is, but here is another fave I'd like to share along those lines, "The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment." Thanks for all the great quotes and beautiful garden photos. Loved them all. Also, thanks for the exceptional music playlist. I always leave yours running while I surf RMS. Have a fun day! 18. I loved visiting the beautiful gardens today of Vicky, Garden Girl, and Mom. Thanks for the music you selected and for the inspirational quotes. I'm in the midst of a re-landscaping project, and these gardens show me how my own gardens want to look! If I could achieve a gracious entry way for my tiny ranch-style home like GG's it would make me happy to open the door when leaving or coming home! And seeing the garden designs of Vicky have given me some good ideas for my back yard. Of course, Mom's home is spectacular and unique inside and out--just like she is! Thanks Gollum for bringing joy to RMS! Fieldstone/Pam

  19. ~~~ "Short sweet and to the point", darling VICKY said it so well ~ and it's DEFINITELY a "DITTO" from me, dearest Gollum-Girl!!! I still love that your identity is a "mystery" (for a MULTITUDE of VERY good reasons!), so I feel rather guilty "EXPOSING" WHO you really ARE, but, I MUST!!! ~~~ Yes, I KNOW, for a FACT, Y-O-U are the/our beloved "Angel Clarence", in "IT'S A WONDERFL LIFE", aren't you??? (I just KNEW it!) ~You can lift someone UP, like no one I have ever known, and you ARE "the wind beneath MY wings!"~~~ With sincerity, thanks and the warmest hugs, Linda (aka "mom...")
