New Old Adirondacks Plus A DVD Extra Picture of Gollum and Dog
Years ago, I bought two Adirondacks from a catalog, and, when Honey put them together, he sliced open his hand and ended up with stitches. So, those chairs were steeped in all kinds of meaning, and we placed them on the side porch. When we moved to a new house, the buyers ended up with my chairs. It's a long story, but basically, we had to be out of the house on July 1, 2006, and at 4 am, July 1st, we were still moving.
We left a note to the Mean buyers (remind me to tell you about the Mean Buyer and her interior decorator), saying we would return for the chairs. We were too exhausted and punchy to add that we'd also left a painting of our two boys and would collect that, too. The next day, when we drove up, and our chairs were missing. "What chairs?" asked the mean buyer. Meanwhile, Honey found the painting, and a tug-of-war broke out. "But those are my boys!" Honey cried. The Mean Buyer said, "I have two boys!"
We got the painting but lost the chairs. Every now and then I drive by our old house, but I have never seen those beautiful Adirondacks. So, one day I was prowling around my favorite antique store, and I saw an Adirondack in a glass display case.
It was $89.99 with a 10% discount. Not bad--and Honey wouldn't have to put it together. I put down a deposit (they didn't want to break down the display, and I wasn't in a rush). Well, this week they called and said, "Your chair is ready--and oh, by the way, did you want another one?"
Did I ever. They threw in the footstool.
While they aren't the same, we love them. This is one time Honey didn't mind my chair addiction.
Here's a picture of me, Gollum, the chair addict, and also one of the Yorkies.
