This morning, I walked the dogs in the rain, and I noticed that the hills were washed in russet and gold. I've been working so hard, autumn slipped in on puppy dog feet. I haven't had time to decorate, but I have a few pictures from last year. I don't know where I found the time last year--I must be slipping. :-0
Also, I have a request. Mom of a German Shorthair was in an automobile accident this week. She has a concussion. I know she would appreciate your prayers and good wishes.
Also, please join Mary at Mary's Meanderings blogspot for a 30-Day Contentment Therapy Session. Don't forget to register for prizes--Mary will have a monthly drawing. For details, check out her blog Mary's Meanderings

Beautiful photos! I really love the buffet on the dining room table! That is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about "mom"!
Gollum,
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about MOM, of course I'll include her in my prayers. Thanks for letting us know.
Stay well and safe.
Hugs
'D'
Lovely post as always!..Sad to hear about MOM....I wish her a speedy recovery....and hope she isnt experiencing too much discomfort..(hope they gave her some good meds). Take care~Cindy~
ReplyDeleteI'm so stunned about Linda's car accident. I am praying she has a speedy recovery and may God bless her.
ReplyDeleteIs that a tree by your stairs? Oh cool! I love your dining room, it's so warm feeling! Poor Linda, hope she's ok...
ReplyDeleteBuffie
Oh No! I hope MOM is doing okay - I will definitely add her to my prayer list!! Your home looks as lovely as always. I finally added some fall touches around here and took some photos. Now I have to wait for the camera battery to charge. It's always something. If you want to help Jacob with his english class you are more than welcome - He has projects to complete for the novel To Kill A Mockingbird. I guess you learn something new everyday - the character of Dill was supposedly Truman Capote - a friend of Nelle Lee Harper's in her youth. BTW, the tree in your foyer is pretty darn cool! ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteOh my, I am so sorry to hear about Linda's car accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with you!!
ReplyDeleteGollum, I somehow missed that you had a little kitty cat! What's his/her name? Looks like a little puffball..lol! Too cute!!
I have always thought your dining room table was the most beautiful I had ever seen! I saw one similar to it in an antique store awhile back and thought of you. (But it wasn't nearly as pretty as yours. :-))
Dear Gollum!! Oh, I sure do hate to hear about Mom!! She is such a dear and will be in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteOoh la la!! I love that collage just filled with your little fuzzy babies!! And your home is ever so grand!! Just beautiful and you could write a decorating book!
We're having our foyer redone and it will be painted alot like yours. The beigey color on the walls with white trim. I feel a little guilty - we had this planned before the storm but so many of my friends can't find help to get their homes restored and we didn't get any damage and we're redecorating!! :( I'm just not going to tell them.
BE a sweetie and thanks for coming to see me.
Shelia ;)
Please let "MoM"/Linda know that she is in my prayers and hoping that she will have a quick recovery. We love you , MOM!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about "mom". I'll keep her in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.
ReplyDeleteThe colors have been beautiful this year. I enjoyed the collage and other photos. Beautiful!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

ReplyDeleteThere is always so much to see in your photos, I could look at them over and over again. Since I didn't see your decorations last year, they look new and great to me.
ReplyDeleteYour friend will be in my prayers.

ReplyDeleteDear "GG", as Linda calls you, can you post pictures of all your dogs & cats with their names? We know Mister, Murphy & Zap but I see some new fur-babies.
Love the fall decor, your home is always beautiful. :0}
Diane
Gollum- I always enjoy looking at your beautiful home!
ReplyDeleteI am calling all my blogging buddies in asking for a big favor! Would you drop by my blog and read my contentment therapy blog and about a giveaway. Would you consider joining me in this 30 day therapy (a Mr. Linky link is at very bottom of the blog) and leaving a note on your blog to inform others about it - or email friends- I would love for this to be great time for lots of us. I don't have a huge following on my blog but would like to get the word out. Please let me know what you think and any suggestions too! Thanks so much!
blessings to you! mary :)
OH poor mom! I sure hope she's okay and will have a speeding recovery! Your home of course looks stunning even if it is last year....I don't know how you would ever find time to decorate!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful mosaic! I just love fall in all its glory! Oh, I don't want winter to get here!
Kady
The photos are lovely. I'm sorry about "mom" I will offer up prayers.
ReplyDeleteI've said it before, and I'll say it again. I love those doors! What a gorgeous welcome into your home. And that dining room looks absolutely stunning. The arrangemnet in the center is so simple but so elegant (had to enlarge the pic so I could see it). Thank you for taking the time to do a post and for telling us about Mom. She's been added to my prayer list for sure. laurie
ReplyDeleteI hope everything is okay!
ReplyDeleteI love that hall tree.
Love that little tree in your foyer. Okay, BIG tree!!!! I know Linda appreciates everyone's prayers. Let's keep 'em flowing. Hopefully, she'll be able to let us all know how she is soon. You KNOW she's just itching to get at her computer!

ReplyDeleteHello there! How wonderful to find your blog this evening. Mom, if you are well enough to read these comments you know how highly you are regarded by all of us. Please take good care and be healthy again. We love you bunches. Gollum, I can totally picture you walking in the pouring rain with your precious pups. Take time to "see" the colors.
ReplyDeleteLinda, if you read this...sending a million hugs your way...wish I was there to fix you a nice big pot of chicken soup!
ReplyDeleteMichael, I LOVE that huge, scary tree in your entry...where did you find that? Very spooky!
Susan
Susan, the tree is made by Dept 56--the company that makes Snow Village and Dicken's Village (I have some of the latter).
ReplyDeleteMom I am sending you my prayers..hope you'll be up and about real soon..Gollum I am love all these little Yorkies..they could come and Trick or treat at my house any time..but don't think I would give them back..love your doors here..just beautiful and hope you are getting some writing done..have a great weekedn..hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteMichael, what beautiful decor from last year! I would love to see a full picture of the outside of your house. It looks lovely from the front porch!
ReplyDeletePlease send MOGS my best. I do hope she's okay!
Justine :o )
***Dearest GG & friends~ Your wonderful get-well thoughts n' prayers have been GRATEFULLY RECEIVED~~~ My CAR may be "totalled" (& that cement wall pretty "un-cementy-looking" now!), but NOT my spirits, just because of wonderful, generous people like you!!! I'm doing better everyday! Love n' again, warm THANK YOUs from Jim, the Belle-girl AND me!!! I've missed you all!!! XOXOXOX Linda
ReplyDeleteJust had to let you know that I picked up Mermaids in the Basement the other day and I can't put it down! I couldn't sleep last night so I got up at 12:30 and read until 4:00...made myself turn off the light!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Judy
I have been out of the loop and so much has happened since my last visit.
ReplyDeleteBy the time I got here, Linda had left her post. Great news and her sense of humor is still intact. Whew! Thanks for the source on that tree. I love it!
Lisa & Alfie
I'm so glad to see your comment, Linda! Thank goodness you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteI'm delighted that the book kept you up, Judy. :-) Justine, I took some pictures this morning, but of clouds. You know me and clouds. :-) I didn't take any pics of the house--Hefty bags all over the porch. Eh. Even the dogs are freaking.
I heard from Mr. Charles Faudree, and I will be putting together a post about his new book. The photos are just beautiful. His publisher sent a copy for a drawing, and I'm adding one from my collection, too.
Laurie, if you are reading this, do you ever go to the design shop that's down the street from TBIB?
What a great blog entry that would be! Mary Gay hosted a progresssive luncheon for me last January, and the first stop was the design store. The owner has set up little vignettes, resembling cozy, little rooms. Some items are new; others are on consignment (that was my understanding). When I walked in, the first thing I saw was a cloche--I love cloches--but I didn't know how I'd get it home on the airplane. I would love to drive up there with my Jeep and shop for hours! Laurie, if you blog about the store, let me know and I will spread the word.
Okay, off to the chicken coop to get eggs--I hope everyone has a wonderful day...and wherever you are, don't forget to look up at the clouds.
I'm glad Mom is ok and in good spirits,I'll be praying for her.
ReplyDeleteYour halloween tree is so unique! I love the pumpkin fairies, they are so cute. I have a few christmas fairies from Mark Roberts. Everything is beautiful even if it is from last year. We all know you've been busy! Kristen
OMG!!!! I am SOOOO sorry to hear about Linda's accident but just saw her rep[ly so KNOW that her spirit is WELL...as always!!1 What a dear you are, Linda and I will pray for you to be totally recovered SOON!!! Much love, hugs and prayers, Pinky
ReplyDeletegollum, 5* as always. I know Linda will be coming by and I want her to know that I am sending her some love, and a speedy recovery. vickydarnell
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased to see that Linda/Mom has written a reply. I will continue to pray for your quick recovery Linda. You mean so much to so many of us. Now watch out for those cement walls, they are a stubborn bunch. And here I thought the catcus were a dangerous lot.
ReplyDeleteAs for last year's autumn decore, it's so lovely and adds just the right amount of fall colors.
I just started reading Crazy Ladies and I'm addicted. I read for 4 hours last night and never once got tired or sleepy (which is the norm for me) while reading. It was so hard for me to finally put it down to get some sleep.
Very beautiful site, Gollum. The color of the dining room is just devine.
ReplyDeleteHi Gollum.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to 'blogland' and I found you through Artie -- I hope you don't mind me popping over. I don't want to crash in on a family gathering so to speak, you have a close group it looks like, and I don't want to intrude, but I wanted to say that I think your writing is wonderful and your farm looks amazing. I truly enjoy everything about your blog and if you don't mind, I'd like to come back and visit from time to time!
With kindest regards,
Isa
LOVE to mom and a very speedy recovery!!!! PD
ReplyDeleteGollum,
I'm sorry you have been missing the change of the season. You need to get out once in a while and enjoy it!
You home looked gorgeous last year!
love,
rue
Gollum, "Sister's" is another one of my future blog post plans! After all, they are the only two good stores in my little town. So glad you got to go there when you were here, and if you do ever decide to bring your jeep up here, you'd better let me know about it! I'm also so glad to come back over here and see that "Mom" is doing better. She's been in my prayers. laurie
ReplyDeleteP.S.} Can't wait to see the posting on Charles Faudree (he's always been a fav of mine), probably because he espouses the "more is more" theory. LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm so loving that black Halloween tree...it's just delicious! Have you shared your dining room paint color on RMS or somewhere? I'm looking for a yummy pumpkin color for my dining room walls that doesn't look like Gerber sweet potatoes smeared all over...and it's been hard to find just the right shade!
ReplyDeleteOh Gollum, I simply LOVE that table on the back terrace. You ever consider getting rid of it, let me know, and I'll make a trip to take it off your hands!
ReplyDeleteOh, Artie, that table cracked right down the middle. We glued that, and the side panels cracked. My husband has it clamped. Then he is going to paint it with marine varnish?? Or somesuch.
ReplyDeleteTarDevil, the paint color is "Rich Clay" by Porter Paint. The company has changed all of their colors' names, but hopefully they can still mix it. If not, you might ask at Sherwin Williams. The store in my town has a PP paint deck and they told me they can mix any color I want. I had them mix my trim color, and they were spot on.
***"Happy Sunday Evening" to GG & all of you wonderful ones! ~~~ Wanted to THANK YOU ALL AGAIN, & let you know your get-well thoughts, concerns & prayers HAVE been received & they've been "WORKING"!!! ~ I'll find out, after tomorrow morning's tests, if I'm now "NORMAL"... (AND, if I A-M, it'll be a "FIRST"!!!) ~ Smiling, warm & healthy hugs from my family n' me!!! XOXO Linda
ReplyDeleteMom, tried relentlessly to leave a message on your RMS pages, but all to no avail. (Comment kept coming up "null", again, again, again.) Happy to hear that you are the mend and wishing you a speedy and full recovery. With many hugs -
ReplyDeleteGollum, thank you for letting me use your blog to convey my message to Linda. As far as you 'slipping', join the club. As your mother will tell you, it does come with 'maturity'.(Notice I didn't say 'age'. I'm only in partial denial...smiles.) Have a beautiful and restful week!
I am so glad Mom is feeling better! Gollum, I loved your halloween dcorating, that tree in your foyer is awesome! I also would love to see a pic of the entire house, The doors are beautiful! Connie
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Gollum! My painters like Sherwin Wms, so that will be great. Sorry to hear about your mom! I will post a Warm Fuzzy for her over @ my place.
ReplyDeleteGood Evening [morning now] Gollum, I was saddened to read about Linda and the accident; but, "gladdened" right up to see her posting [comment] b4 me. I tell you I've loved seeing your '07 Fall/Halloween's decor, beautiful ...what else with your gift, but I so love your room presentations and furniture. I think Vanna and I could have a 'field day' if you had a sale for us!! Now to 'Sir' Faudree: HURRY! My fav, as he is to many. Thanx for a wonderful blog. Verne (redprosper on RMS)
ReplyDeleteAre you kidding me!? We'd LOVE to have an online discussion about the book! I'm half way through Mermaids already, I couldn't put it down yesterday, I'm really getting into it! I love the characters, they pull you right into the story...I've even laughed out loud a few times, very witty, funny and touching all at the same time! I'll ask you when I'm done, (today most likely ha!) when you have time to do the discussion ok? And thanks Gollum, you're just too cool to do this for us!
ReplyDeleteOh and the table the book was on in the photo is made out of two hundred year old oak...don't ya just love the look and feel of antique wood? Thanks!
Buffie : )
Oh and don't forget the tequila...with this group we can get wild and crazy! LOL! : )
ReplyDeleteHi Gollum :) Thanks for coming to my little world for a visit. You know... Artie IS my twin from another mother so I'm not surprised to see he asked about the table already! I was going to ask you about the story on that fabu table, myself and I see he beat me to it! I really love it!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that your friend, MOM - Good wishes her way and I hope she recovers quickly :)
Cheers!
Isa
Dear Gollum,
ReplyDeleteI am currently reading 'Crazy Women' and am loving it!! What memorable characters! I smiled when I read of Miss Gussie's frog collection thinking of your wallpaper and of Dorothy removing the ceramic roosters from her kitchen- that just added to my negative feelings for her character!! I'm so glad that you 'outed' that you are a writer because I am really loving your work!!
Christy
Oops... I mean 'Crazy Ladies'!! My bad!
ReplyDeleteChristy
MOM....You are in my prayers and thoughts and you will be FiNe! I had a concussion ten years ago. The key is ReSt and more ReSt. In my younger years I worked with stroke patients and automobile accident victims as a Speech Therapist. I just know that patience is your key to recuperation. HuGs XoXoXo and God's Blessings and Peace. LIZKID/JANET

Your home is stunning ...but also very warm and welcoming!
ReplyDelete*** G' Morning, gorgeous GG!!! What a beauuuutiful day~~~ Wish I were in YER neck o' the woods for a lovely fall walk around the grounds, and getting to pet all the "babies" who reside there with y'all!!! (What blessings come to mind in the fall, huh????)~~~ Big hugs & hopes that you'll stop writing, even for just "a few n' a cuppa", and take a walk, too!!! It seems so glorious in the "colder places"!!! Happy, healthy, big & warm hugs, Linda
ReplyDeleteThat entryway table is amazing! Love the tree!
ReplyDeleteThat entryway table is amazing! Love the tree!
ReplyDeleteI just finished reading Crazy Ladies and I enjoyed it so much. A very interesting cast of characters. I must admit that I liked all the songs that Bitsy favored, much to the chagrin of Violet.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about "mom", I hope and pray she has a speedy recovery!
ReplyDeleteYour photos and home are beautiful as always, and thank you for the wonderful comment you left on my blog :)
Beautiful photos of your beautiful and amazing home! :)
ReplyDeleteI have read your book, Crazy Ladies and absolutely loved it! Once I started I couldn't put it down! I can't wait to read the rest of your books! I saw on your website that you will be in Raleigh, NC, in Jan. I will have to add the booksigning to my TO DO list and come up and meet you in person! Keep writing! I love your style! :) ~Rhonda
Oh, and my prayers are with "Mom"! I remember her from RMS! She was always so nice and encouraging! :)
