I stopped by the antique mall to pick up the gray pottery, and I, Gollum, a true Dish Addict, couldn't resist looking to see if I'd missed anything. Well, of course I had. These handpainted dessert plates (above) would be lovely with Ironstone. But maybe they'll be reduced after the holidays.
Speaking of Ironstone, this pitcher made my heart speed up. and I love the little white coffee pot in the background--with the orange handle and strawberry (?) top.
The fluted cake plate caught my attention.
Gollum, no! Back off--you do not need another chair. Just turn around, Gollum. Now!
So we're back to dishes
And, looking ahead to summery tablescaping...
Go back, Gollum. Go back and get those shells. And while you're at it, check the price on the cake plate.
I came home with my dishes--thanks to my fellow dish addicts for encouraging me to buy them. They were a true bargain--very heavy, in pristine condition, with scads of serving pieces.
I'm not sure, but I think they will mix and match with my Bethany Lowe dishes.
But I just may have to go back for those shells...
You are a "true dish addict" already thinking ahead.. To summer tablescapes. lol. Yes, you must go back and get the shells. You know the pheasant dish would be oh soooo perfect in my dining room.lol. And the fluted cake stand.. girl.. I'm drooling over so many "fine" things you ran across.. Thank goodness I can shop virtually...I'm so glad you like the feathers. They are a staple in our home and used year round.. :-) hugs ~lynne~
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and love to look through antique stores and really enjoyed your photos today and your new dishes look so nice.

What a wonderful shop!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think you need those shells and while you're there, the bird plates would be a great purchase. Don't forget the chair!
Merry Christmas!
OOOOHHH, Love your new dishes!!! The shells would look pretty with them, too. In the pick the dishes look a bit like the color of the ocean. :-) Those pheasant plates would have been calling my name, big time! I haven't been to A Classy Flea in forever; I'm suffering with terrible withdrawls, now! Susan
ReplyDeleteOh girlfiend, you did GOOD this time! They'll go with sooo much! Love 'em!

Such wonderful treasures! I am a dish-aholic in training.... I don't have the collection you do...but I am working on it!
ReplyDeleteOh the dishes are so pretty. You made the only decision you could have faced with such lovliness. Now go get those shells.
ReplyDeleteI really need to find a set of everyday dishes. Since we moved to the new house in August they match nothing. Something white with red and pink or yellow roses. I would even be opened to assorted plates that are missmatched as I have an old set of white stonewear that is my Mothers that will tie together the missmatched dishes. I am waiting for just the right thing to come along. Kind of picky I guess?
Please enjoy the holidays. Will you be cooking Christmas dinner? We are having a small group here for dinner.
You have an eye for those things. I might think something like that is pretty but I wouldn't know what to do with it once I had it! I'll just keep watching to see your beautiful table settings. Maybe it'll rub off on me!
ReplyDeleteOooo, look at you, Gollum! More dishes, well they are pretty. Hope you and yours have a wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, Gollum...that fluted cake plate..yes!! It's gorgeous! And your new china...beautiful! You will enjoy it sooo much! A good idea about waiting, Gollum! Note to self...hold out until after Christmas to see what's on sale. Thanks for the virtual shopping trip!...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHello, I've strolled into your beautiful blog for the first time.
ReplyDeleteI would have left my credit card smoldering after a trip through the antique shop. The pot with the strawberry would have been an irresistible temptation. I hope you show pictures of your table setting with your new dishes.
I'm off to visit your previous post.
Sweet Christmas Wishes,
Sara

ReplyDelete(*NOTE~ Just went back to look at the plate~~~ now I see you must get BOTH of the first two, as I can't decide which is more FAB!!! If they're "too much $$$", just consider them "advance-payment" for a page or paragraph (or heaven help us, a whole CHAPTER!) from the new book you're writing now, and "VOILA"!~~~~ You can JUSTIFY the expense THAT way, Ms. Hemingway!!! XOXOXOX)
ReplyDeleteOh Gollum you are way too funny with your dish adventures... I would love to be with you for them... Looks like you get a great deal and I am sure you'll be back for those shells... I loved those dessert plates with the pheasants on them... I think you should have got them too... Have a great day...

Man you and I would be in big trouble if we went shopping together. I just loved all those beautiful items. I am a dish addict too. Maybe we need to start a meeting for people with our condition. I don't know how you were so strong in there.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing with us. Hugs, Bobbi Jo-AZ
Oh Gollum! You put that photo of the fluted cake plate on your post today to drive me completely batty! I must ask you a technical question - or Mr. Bandwith Gollum if you prefer. On your sidebar I see the link to my blog ... but why is "sit boo boo sit" still there. I doesn't appear on anyone else's sidebar ..... thank you in advance.
ReplyDeleteAnd, if Linda/Mom gets any funnier or more irreverent ... we will have to get her a book deal! Or at least a TV show.
ReplyDeleteBy chance did you see any red transferware? Oh darn.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna start a rehabilitation center for dish addicts. I could make a gazillion dollars on just the ladies here in blogland!!! That is if any of you ever decide to be cured lol
ReplyDeleteLove the new set G girl! And I want dibs on that fish platter! *winks* Hope those birdie plates do get reduced and you schnab em up!! I really love tiquin' with ya! Oh and of course if you're still thinking about those shells one day after passing them up? You MUST hurry back and pick them up or it might haunt you forever!! Lol! Seriously I know what I'm talkin' about on this one *winks* Vanna
ReplyDeleteIm glad you got your set of dishes, but it would be hard to leave that chair behind. Now I am craving the antique mall. Actually, Jacob likes them more than I do. He savors every aisle. ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteI wanted to be the first to tell you to go get that chair, if I cant have it, you should! But I guess the dish addiction won! They are lovely, the stitch pattern is very eye catching!
ReplyDeleteOkey-dokey then...when you go back for the shells, could you pick up the cake plate for me...Love it all & I want you to take us shopping there some more! ;-) Bo
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas Gollum! Jamie
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I so wish we had a Classy Flea near to us!!!! Your finds are wonderful. I LOOOOVE your new dishes. I, too, LOVE dishes but do not have NEAR the collection you have, even though my sweet husband thinks I have WAAAAY too many!!!:):) I hope you go back for the bird dishes (both) and the pitcher too! Have a great day, hugs, Pinky
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes! But I love the chair! You should have bought it! lol Did you find Victorian Scones on the web, and do you need seeds for the egg gourds? I woll be glad to send you some. I have painted the gourds into Santas for years! I could just send a whole gourd and you can open it and have tons of seeds. They grow most anywhere! I like to keep them on a trellis, or spots seem to form as the Gordy's eyes and nose. They grow oval and in round shapes on the same vine.
ReplyDeleteSee what you ladies are doing to me I was already looking ahead myself to table scapes for the summer and had star fish I was looking at!! Love that little coffee pot with the strawberry top;) Hugs French;)
ReplyDeleteEvening Dear Gollum! Oh, what wonderful dishes you have - all the better to tablescape with you on Tuesdays, my dear! Now, go on back Dear Gollum and get you some shells and those plates!! Was that a Limoges platter in the background?
ReplyDeleteYou find the most wonderful things!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
