Midnight Sweets

At midnight we were awake but groggy-eyed as we Swiffered and Windexed. A sugar rush, along with eggnog, had a curative effect.

The snowman was a gift--he's so cute!

Tea towels were used as napkins--and I couldn't resist adding snowglobes.

Mr. Rooster watched over the sugary event. For a twist, I served eggnog in martini glasses.

A jolt of coffee kept us awake a bit longer, and we worked long into the night like Santa's elves.

  1. Merry Christmas G, I was up late last night waiting for my son to come home from UCLA,Los Angeles. He arrived at 2:00 so I was up with you, keeping busy.I even made the little Christmas mice you had posted.I added little red dots on the white of their eyes and a little round red nose.I was munching on fudge and sipping hot cider. If I had known you were up I would have come over for a visit.Have a wonderful day with your family and Thank you for always inspiring and bringing words to life.Merry Christmas, kathysue,Micasastyle.com

  7. I was up past midnight doing a little of this and that....and stopped for a sugar/caffeine break....oh, how I wish I had taken another 4 minutes to make it a pretty break!

Thanks for taking the time to snap a few photos... I am going to try to retrain myself to "make it pretty" (probably makes it taste better too!!)in 2009. You are inspiring me to make "it" prettier!

(still haven't made it to Publix for sconces and devon double cream...but I have my note tucked in my pocketbook to so I will do it!! (I did check at Kroger....and they didn't have any)

  8. Michael, only you girl, would be bleary-eyed and exhausted, but take the time to set a beautiful table for you and Dr. Gollum at midnight. You're insane, but I love it!!!!!
Merry Christmas to all! I'm just taking a break before getting in the shower. WE're expecting around 28 people for dinner. YIKES.

  10. This was just what I needed, Miss Gollum! I still have a ton of wrapping to do. A huge ice storm made me come to a grinding hault and now I'm scurrying to get finished. Don't worry. I took your advice and set the bar fairly low but there will be a couple of sad faces looking at me in the morning if I don't "get on it". Merry Christmas Sweet Friend. Enjoy the family and make some memories!
    love, Carol

  12. Hello Friend! I am not a big eggnog fan but I have to say it even looks yummy in those glasses. :-) A restaurant here in town actually serves an eggnog martini. We just got thru putting out Cole's Santa Claus under the tree, and I am tired and need to go to bed - but just wanted to make the rounds to say Merry Christmas to all my blogging friends. Thank you for all your wonderful "gifts" of words and stories and pictures. I look forward to the coming year. Blessings to you and yours, Barb
