Today's DVD Extra: Let's Go Shopping...Again

When I was a child, I loved doll houses, and my father built me
one. It was lost in a fire. When I saw these birdhouses, they reminded me
of my father, and how I'd hunkered beside him, watching him add details.

I love the bird cake plate and spring-like accessories in this case.

Gloria, Santamaker, and Connie--a larger photo of blue and white pottery.

I visit this store all the time, but these dishes are new. I couldn't see the prices, but I asked the owner to please TEXT me when she finds out. :-)

Let's see what's inside the case.

Chintz cake plates and a server, along with delicate
Depression glass.

Always elegant...silver dresser accessories.

White dishes and teapots, and a darling stool.

I brought home the birdhouses. They'll be perfect for tablescaping...and on the patio:

  2. Great here I am Blog hopping Faux Shopping at Gollums. I am supposed to be planning a trip to Knoxville for April. I am taking my MIL for her 80th . Thought that the trip would be more fun for her than to wait and take her back in the casket she has picked out for her BIG day. She is all excited. I get to plan and she gets to talk talk talk for 1500 miles.I would rather stay in blogland. Gollun take me away...........

  3. Oh my gosh! Those birdhouses are gorgeous! I use some (not as pretty as those) in my laundry room over the cabinets. They would be perfect on your sunporch too. My favorite is that stool. It would have come home w/ me, even though it doesn't match a thing in my house. Were you the one that bought some ornate black shelf that almost got sold out from under you? If so, whatever happened with that?

  7. You do shop in the neatest places, so many gorgeous treasures. I have just started trying to find pieces in blue and white and I am so drawn to cake plates, the gorgeous blue and white ones you found are just wonderful. I would have had a hard time walking away from those. What a great shopping trip. Thanks, Hugs, Marty

  8. Yes, I bought that shelf. It's in my living room. I have been waiting to finish the book before calling Mr. Tom.

I decided NOT to paint. So the delay was good. :-)

  10. Man your porch is gorgeous! :-)

This is the strangest thing that you should mention about your father building you a doll house. One of our friend's daughter was visiting here yesterday, and I showed her the doll house that my father built me. To say it is delapidated would be an understatement. But I remember so well, watching him build it in our garage. He lovingly glued individual shingles on the roof and even made a "wind-up" elevator for my dolls. I felt like the queen of the neighborhood there for awhile! :-) Fathers are the unsung heros aren't they?
Thanks for the shopping trip...I want to steal the stool! :-) L~

  17. It's a good thing this shopping trip was virtual, because I saw a LOT of things I would have wanted to buy! It made me sad to read that your doll house was lost in a fire, but those bird houses are SO cute! I'll look forward to seeing them in a tablescape and on the porch. laurie
