I bought a little box of chocolate chip cookies at the Publix bakery, then I came home and "doctored" them.
After melting the chocolate and peanut butter chips, I dipped & drizzled the cookies.
I dipped the rest of the cookies in chocolate, with more frenzied zigzags.
What You Need:
- Store bought cookies (or homemade, of course!)
- Microwave dipping chocolate
- peanut butter chips
- squeeze bottle (a clean mustard bottle will work--or a fork, if you have a steady hand).
- waxed paper
Melt the chocolate according to directions on the container. Melt the peanut butter chips in the microwave (I add a bit of milk after microwaving until the mixture reaches a "spreadable" consistency.
Dip each cookie, just the edge. Alternate chocolate and peanut butter. Place remaining chocolate into a squeeze bottle. Set on waxed paper and drizzle.
Cookies for breakfast, Dr. Gollum?
***** WHAT a CHARMING & YUMMY way to start the day!!! FABULICIOUS!!!!!! XO *****
ReplyDeleteI played with simple food today, too. I had a box of Tastefully Simple Blueberry Fruit Dip. I needed to make a dessert for Book Club tomorrow night so with some cream cheese, heavy cream, sour cream and a vanilla wafer crust....wala..I have a blueberry cheesecake!
ReplyDeleteOh, Terri, that sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! I will have to remember this one!
ReplyDeleteJudyBug
My dear Gollum .... only YOU would describe zigzagging as 'frenzied!'
ReplyDeleteI am off to buy ready made cookies as I have all the remaining goodies!
My grandchildren will love you/me for this!
Every time I come to your blog I get a chocolate craving!
ReplyDeleteThese looks so good... great idea!
Jane
I love this idea. I like playing with store bought cookies by making them into ice cream sandwiches or putting two together with a filling but yours are really beautiful.
ReplyDeleteRoberta Anne
Beautiful and yummy too I'm sure but you are not doing anything to help me with my diet. lol Do you have a way to dress up carrot sticks? ROFL
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spruce up store bought to look like homemade. I'm sure they taste as delicious as they look. Great idea! Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of what I did with pound cake one time. I cut it into long pieces, about 1" x 3" and dipped the ends in chocolate and then left them cool. The cookies look like you purchased them from the bakery...very fancy! ;) Did Dr. Gollum like them for breakfast? ;) ~CC Catherine
ReplyDeleteI will gain weight visiting here, yet, I can't resist!
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I rarely have time to make homemade cookies, but this would be a nice way to dress up store-bought cookies.
ReplyDeleteDearest G, how in the world can you resist all these goodies you keep coming up with??? My mouth waters every time I open your blog! Now I am going to fix my very sensible fish dinner and then have dessert that my SIL is bringing over....bread pudding!!!!:):) XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever, I would have never thought of that own my own. Thank you. This is my idea of making cookies. :)
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Chris
These are fun! I'll file this away for future reference.
ReplyDelete:-) I wouldn't have thought of it, either, but I saw similar (bigger) cookies in the Publix bakery case, and I thought, I'm making them!
ReplyDeleteNext time, I'm trying the "tube" cookie dough for a bigger, breakfast-sized cookie.
Raggedy girl, these would be sublime with ice cream. I saw Martha Stewart make them on her show. These cookies are a little soft, which would make them perfect for a frozen goodie.
CC, LOVE your idea of the poundcake. I'm going to make that for my mom.
I love that sunflower plate, too. ~ Robyn
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful and yummy idea. Hugs, Bobbi Jo
ReplyDeleteALL terrific pics! i love the last 2, i can't get over how quickly you became a food star! i am craving cookie dough right now...
ReplyDeleteI love those cookies! I think I'll try that next time I see some cookie! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! That was way too simple and looks delicious! Thanks, Paula
ReplyDeleteAnd to think, I've been serving my family plain old store-bought cookies and I've been proud of it! Never again! laurie

ReplyDeleteYou must be so much fun to live with...Dr. G never knows what is coming out of that kitchen next! You do know how to make life fun! :-) Cookies for breakfast...you betcha! Put a couple of flakes of oatmeal in one and you can say you had oatmeal for breakfast...with a glass of milk. :-)
ReplyDeleteYou are so clever! I would have never thought to embellish store bought desserts/cookies. I bet Mr. G loves to sit down and eat at your table. And your tablescapes are to die for!!!
ReplyDeleteI have to host our neighborhood BUNCO group in July and I thought to do a 4th of July theme. The host prepares snacks, desserts and drinks. Do you have any suggestions for simple food I can prepare the day before? Appreciate any suggestions!

What a wonderful idea! Have you tried putting the chocolate into a plastic sandwich bag & snipping the end off? Faster cleanup - Just toss when you're through. ♥ Diane
