Tablescape Thursday: A Hint of Spring

Thanks goodness for Susan's Tablescape Thursday, because it gives me a chance to play, and to relax. For more tablescape fun, visit Susan's blog, http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/.

This is Part I of Tablescape Thursday (more later):

Many of you may remember the gray-blue dishes that I spotted last year at a local store.

Since I'm longing for spring, I used the little garden gate that I bought the other day (with the birdhouses), and added my favorite faux silk flower, and little dog figurines.

The polka-dotted martini glasses were so cute with these dishes. You know me, I pile on the crystal, even though we will only use the water glass. I just love the way light transforms glass.

I added little topiary place card holders...here's Dr. Gollum's placesetting.

And here's yours, Mama, with a tiny cat creamer.

The gray-blue dishes are luncheon sized, and the salad plate is almost the same size.

A dog figurine guards the gate.

Two more little dogs.

The sun blazed this afternoon...and it was such a welcome visitor to the farm.

Lunch for four, a hypothetical lunch.

I'm thinking of all sorts of ideas for the gate. :-)

The chargers are made by Pinzon.

The placemats are from K-Mart.

The gray-blue dishes were made by Harker.

Twiggy flatware.

Next week for Tablescape Thursday, I will use the same basic dishes, but mixed up, and with different accessories. Also, food will most likely be involved for a change.

See you at http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/

  1. Gollum, where do I begin? Be still my beating magpie heart! I love it ALL!

Just look at all of those shiny objects! From the garden gate to the little dogs beside it to the twiggy flatware to the blue gray dishes to the wonderful chargers to those napkins that make me want to do a happy dance to the placemats from K-Mart (I think they have some great things) to the napkin rings and the polka dot marini glasses you don't use but like the light to shine through... it's P-E-R-F-E-C-T! I would be interested to see how you alter perfection next week and will tune in to see what you do with it. But that gate just sets me free. It is just TOO cute!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

This morning Dr. Gollum was putting together a "scrap bag" to feed the chickens, and right on top, I saw my BAD and NO! cookies.

"Sorry, baby," he said, "but the chickens will love 'em."

    I'll report back. :-)

  46. Your blog and your home are lovely! I love your sense of style! The tablescape on your post today is one of my favorites! I love your attention to detail. I think there is no gesture to small when it comes to design. People often overlook those tiny details which, in my opinion, make all the difference!

I can't wait for season three of the Tudors either! Love the photos!

  47. Love your table (those dishes are gorgeous!) but my favorite part was the guard dogs. And not just because I collect vintage dog figurines either...it's that attention to detail that sets the nice tables from the extraordinary.

  69. I have a few minutes, so I just got to read the comments on my blog. I'm sure you can use frozen peaches. I use canned most of the time only because I keep them on hand and I can make this fast, when I get unexpected company and need something in a hurry. It also tastes great served warm, after baking, and left to sit to room tempature. But of course it has to be stored in the frig. because of the cream.

    Enjoy......

    Hugs
