I've been looking at these cookies all night. To keep from eating them, I tablescaped them. So far, it's working. Silly, but effective.
When I'm working hard on a book, I tend to crave carbs. (Dr. Gollum says the brain "runs" on glucose, so.....maybe I need a cookie.)

But I am definitely looking into a recipe for low-fat, sugar free cookies. Although, Dr. Atkins used to say that "low fat" usually means "high carb."
What I'd like to know is, how can Dr. G and Bandwith NOT EAT the cookies? Why is it always me who hears the sugar siren song? My mother used to freeze evil cookies. I'm almost to that point.
Note to self: Go to Publix, Gollum. Get some instant grat faux sugar and call it a day.
(The pink dishes are part of the booty that I brought home with Dr. Gollum--4 lovely dishes for Valentine's.)
Bad Gollum!!! Im glad I cant reach in and grab one of those cookies. I also hate to tell you but some cookies are best frozen. As you have probably guessed by now....Im dieting. Eat one or two for me!
ReplyDeleteoh those pink dishes are delicious and the napkins and butterfly rings are perfect. The cookies are calling my name too, freeze them, freeze them, quick. Don't you be working to hard now (see, you have me talking just like Bitsy lol, I love Dorothy BTW and her letters crack me up :-) oh and if you find a low fat, sugar free recipe for cookies that tastes like the high fat, sugar ladened versions, let me know lol. night, night, Kathy.
ReplyDeleteYou must have alot of willpower! I wouldn't have been able to take pics of them and not indulge in at least one!! Even if they were in the freezer....I would have gotten to them!!
ReplyDeleteGood mornin' Gollum! Oh, I didn't even notice the tablescape until you mentioned the pink plates! Guess I was a little fixated on the cookies! I feel your pain! I too am finally trying to lose those unwanted extra pounds! Valentine M&M's are calling to me! The plate is adorable but since I am a fabric fanatic I noticed the beautiful napkin and since I am also a butterfly fiend I noticed your beautiful napkin ring! God Bless you today! lauralu
ReplyDeleteWarning, Gollum....Frozen cookies taste even BETTER !
ReplyDeleteMy first inclination was to write, "Oh, I love your booty" but realized that sounded all wrong. So let me say, I love the PINK dishes you found. They're perfect for Valentines day! I have little heart plates with pink and white stripes. I'll be bringing those out for dinner on Saturday night. Now all I need is a Valentine! Resist those cookies. Although white chocolate macadamia are hard to turn down! I like the fact that the brain runs on glucose. Must be why most creative types love sugar!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe tablescape is just lovely and the plates are so pretty, but the cookies are what's really calling to me. I am trying so hard to maintain my weight and not gain. Very hard. Maybe just one. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI freeze girl scout cookies; save them up from spring into the summer and they love them. Grandson just called two weeks ago to let me know his friend in the neighbor was selling them; he told her just call my grandma she will buy them all. laughing!
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes.
They do look good. Love that butterfly napkin ring.

Those cookies look so yummy! Are they the white chocolate/macadamia cookies? I made some on Monday for my hubby and oatmeal chocolate for the kiddos.
ReplyDeleteThe plates are so pretty and the napkins. Hugs, Bobbi Jo
The cookies are tempting..are those macadamians, white choc chunks???? You know, they say even on a diet NOT to deprive yourself a sweet occasionally..ocasionally being the key word!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Valentine table..
These look delicious! I can almost smell them.
ReplyDeleteThe dishes in pink, so pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnd the cookies look delicious..
Pretend there are PEANUTS in them and you won't want to eat them...
Dr Atkins was a neighbor here, he died..he should have eaten more cookies!
Those cookies are very tempting. (Just hope they are not Peanut Butter....we too have had our problems with tainted foods up here in Canada.) Yes,yes by all means freeze them .....as the process gives a chance for flavours to blend....so I tell myself each year when I am stashing my seasonal supply of Laura Secord Creme Filled Eastereggs away. (Wink, wink)
ReplyDeleteAnxiously awaiting to see what other goodies that you purchased on your excursion. The plates are adorable and just so perfect for Valentine's Day.
darling dish, impressive pics!
ReplyDeleteyou tablescape with sweets not to eat? oy, i would be eating them to get the proper balance...
I agree with Ms. Mama .. Dorothy's letters to the First Ladies were completely hysterical! Love the pink of the plate BUT I spy cookies on a cake stand I think! I have used your dear little mommy's freezer trick for years. At this time there is a coconut/rum/fruitcake in it ... I popped it in the minute I could after baking BECAUSE I knew what would happen if I didn't! PS, enjoyed seeing the photo of your dear Dr. G!
ReplyDeleteThe cookies look yummy! I don't know how you're able to resist all these sweets you've been posting. I've got those same pink plates. Love your butterfly napkin ring.
ReplyDeleteThey are just crying to be eaten! One or two won't hurt! Love the pink plates!
ReplyDeleteWHAT new plates? WHAT pretty butterflies??? All I saw were COOOOOOKIES!!! GEEEZ, NOW I must go back n' look!!!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, that hot-pink plate is SOOOOOO DARLING! THANKS for the smiles AND the sweetness!!! XOXO, Linda
ReplyDelete*****I have OFTEN TRIED to leave a note for HELEN on her WONDERFUL blog~~~ she only has "GOOGLE"!!! HELEN, why not make it so those of us who have "problems" w/ google can leave you a message??? (Google's a NIGHTMARE for me!)~~~ "PRETTY PLEASE???" Love, Linda
ReplyDeletegg, I am a bit of a health nut...I say listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs. I think you need a cookie and so do I !
ReplyDeleteA little sidenote this afternoon - I had been having problems with someone leaving nutty messages of the marketing type on my blog so I restricted access ... just for MOAGS I will open 'er up again!
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to resist all the sweets going around blogland lately. Isn't February National Heart Disease Month?? I am sure there is healthy cookie out there somewhere...but who care!

I can't leave message4s on the Google accounts either....don't know why. Now, G, just LOOKING at the cookies is making me want some! OOOOHHHHH!!!!!!!!! The pink plates are so wonderful, and I just LOVE the napkin ring! Now I will have to TRY to fight MY carb temptation!!!!!!!!!! Love, Pinky
ReplyDeleteAmazing willpower! Those pink dishes are so pretty, but I'm really loving that butterfly napkin ring. laurie
ReplyDeleteI love those pink heart dishes, I think pink speaks romance.
ReplyDeleteIf the md says glucose feeds the brain, then I'd say "go for it" :-)
Ahhh, the pink plates are too precious! Love 'em! The napkins are too sweet too.
ReplyDeleteI've had a miserable time inhaling anything with sugar that I can find. My clothes are too tight & I'm tired. My big fix to is to remember to take Folic Acid and Magnesium. It takes away the sugar cravings.
I love sweet potatoes and they can taste like pie, so I nuke one, and either then just peel and eat or if I'm desperate, peel, mash & add a packet of sweetener with cinnamon & nutmeg & possibly a dash of juice if it's too dry. I have to share with my guys though. Murphy especially loves sweet potatoes! ♥

Hello~ I've just posted a recipe for Napoleons, that can be easily adapted to a sugar free option by using a sugar free jam for the berries and Splenda in place of the powder sugar. The Mascaporne and real whip topping have no carbs. Puff pastry has a lower Glycemic index. One reason is the butter to flour ratio and most recipes call for small amounts to be baked and eaten.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fabulous tasting dessert with a great presentation.
The chocolate dipped strawberries can be made with a sugar free chocolate bar. Trader Joe's sells a great one for dipping and making ganache. Using nuts (for the dipped chocolate toppings) keeps it low carb. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sweet Wishes,
Sara
This is just beautiful! So fun to get gifts in the mail! I just love it! That was great gifts!
