Today's DVD Extra: A Sneak Preview of Foodie Friday

It was like any other baking day, taking my usual shortcuts (tube of sugar cookie dough), with darling cookie cutters shaped like flowers, leaves, and bumblebees.

The flowers were big but flowery.

I even went on the internet and read about cookie decorating. First, outline the cookie. Next, fill in the "body" of the cookie and let dry for an hour. Finally, decorate.

Now, let's get down to the nitty gritty!

The icing said, "Let's have a food fight!"

It was a punishing experience, to say the least.

Bad cookie! Bad Gollum!

Somehow this is not the bumblebee that I meant it to bee. The eyes remind me of the Christmas Mice (with the unibrows and Stephen King vampire eyes).

This was supposed to be a pink bee--but this time I added the Mice Eyes. :-)
At this point, I'm laughing so hard Young Bandwith comes to investigate.

And declines to test a cookie. He says he will stick to storebought.

How can we salvage this? I know, I know, let's make it a frog!

:-)
Bad Cookie!

This sums up my baking day.. NO!!!

  9. I am forbidden to do iced cookies here at Casa Bennettstein. I ate 3 tubes over the holidays because Harvey ate the cookies before I could decorate them.
Looking forward to your surprises tomorrow!

  11. Snort! These cookies look better than the ones I tried a few months ago...

And I have been on your same 'diet'. So far I've gained 3.8 pounds when I am supposed to be losing 10. Short of wiring my mouth shut I am not sure what my options are. Best of luck with Foodie Friday; I'll be looking in!

  14. Gollum, This post made me laugh! ;)))) I think this cookie baking day was fun at your place! Reminds me why I stick to baking scones... However, I do LOVE sugar cookies that are frosted! I'm still sure they are scrumptious...that's all that counts! ;) ~CC Catherine from "Catherine de th`e Cups". Thanks for your recent comments and for stopping over! ;)

  21. Well, I must say this made me giggle, Gollum! This looks familiar to me. My attempts at being fancy generally don't work! We had tornados in the area last night and I didn't get to visit my favorite new restaurant, so I am working on a plan so I can participate Friday!! Have a great day!...Debbie

  24. Good morning Gollum! Well, I have to admit the little green devil in me is relieved to find out that you are only human and there is something you are not perfect at! I'm kidding!! But alas, your tablescape is a dream come true! I got up early this morning to clean house, (DH is out of town on business), and though it is in dire straits I had my mind on all of the beautiful tablescapes and thought I'd try one! I gave up and went back to mopping the kitchen floor! For now I'll just drool over everybody else's! God Bless you today! Lauralu

  25. A funny post! :) I have not decorated cookies in so many years. During the holidays I dipped some in chocolate and that was the extent of my decorating.:)

  26. Well..............all I can say is that you didn't have an safty issues in the kitchen today.
And that's a good thing! I wouldn't write any books on cookie making; I am just dying laughing, this looks like something my family would expect from me. Oh, I just kmow that you must have been laughing out loud to your self and at your self. We're all human.
