Crystal Sconce Giveaway, Courtesy of Shades of Light

I'd had one of those bad housekeeping days. Icing on the ceiling, clutter piled up, and everything I cooked was "off" and went to the chickens. Then I received a delightful email from Paige at Shades of Light catalog--one of my faves. They wrote the sweetest article about Gollum's Farmhouse; they are also offering a neat giveaway to the design community. If you would like a chance to win a crystal basket sconce, drop your name into the basket. Dr. Gollum will do the honors on April 1st.
Isn't this an adorable SCONCE!

(Leave a comment on this post if you'd like your name to go into into the basket.)

It was uncanny. Just the other day I was thinking of fabric samples that I'd ordered from Shades of Light. I had gotten bogged down with writing (and also, as yall know, I tend to waffle a bit about design decisions). I was horribly flummoxed by a tricky window in my library and wasn't sure about how to hang drapery rods. Even Mr. Tom wasn't sure.

I'd moved the draperies to the breakfast room, and I was looking at these silk buffalo panels...

...in this color. It matched perfectly.

Too, I'd posted before about the Dungeon, and how I wanted it to have a lighter look, aka "Somethings Gotta Give," from the motion picture. I'd used inspiration pictures from the catalog.

I asked Paige, the representative from Shades of Light, if she knew I was a rabid customer of Shades of Light catalog. Nope, she didn't. :-) Nor had she seen my blog entries about buying draperies from SOL for my library, or the "Something's Gotta Give" makeover-to-be in the basement.

She had stumbled onto my blog from the food world, Tastespotting and Foodgawker. I just loved this. It's so much fun to see how the breadcrumbs connect throughout blogland. It turned out she has a divine foodie blog, too, called A Butter World. I love when design and food collide....

Even if it's icing on my ceiling, I'm having fun. Most of all, I love meeting people who love to move furniture with one hand while they chop Italian parsley with the other.

I'm all motivitated to get my basement painted so I can have a beachy-looking room before summer ends. :-) Now is the time, Gollum. Now is the time.

If only I could pick a color. :-)

If you want a closer peek at the sconce, or to read about fun design ideas, visit the Shades of Light blog Inspired Spaces.

Now, I am off to bake cupcakes....with green icing.

That's great they are featuring your home..keep us informed, please!
I love seeing pics of your beautiful home!

A beachy basement, huh? Mine is more a Warehouse theme! Bins and boxes are my inspiration pieces! Dishes and decorations my downfall....
And if sand on the floor counts as Beachy..a few more months and I'll have that theme too...naturally...:)

How fun! Don't you love how the breadcrumb thing works?!? I've discovered some fantastic blogs that way.

I wear out the SOL catalog every time they send it out!

Love the color of buffalo checks! Did you consider hanging the panels on "knobs" on either side of the window? I think you used this idea in your French Kiss room? I loved the idea & want to use it in my guest room. ♥

Gollum, this is wonderful news! Your home is so stunning and we are so happy that you where chosen.
I tried to register; could you tell us how. I visited but could not register? I don't know if others are having problems.
thanks,
blossom

You know what? I goofed up. As always, says Miss Icing in the Dogs' Fur.

I'm so sorry for the confusion!

Just leave a comment here and Dr. Gollum will draw the winner's name on April 1st.

Oh, I certainly want to have my name in the "crystal basket"!! How precious is that! Also, you should look at my blog... my curtains in the living room to be exact. They are the silk plaid that you showed a sample of. How funny is that?

Raggedy Girl said...

What a neat post and new rooms to look at... such great fun. I love that checked fabric. I have something similar on it's way. Spring just makes you want to grab a paint brush, re-arrange a room or at least grill a steak and toss a salad.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday

That's right, you still haven't picked a color for your basement. I can't show mine to anybody - Jacob and his friend Jaz have the place an absolute disaster area. I blew a fuse this morning blowdrying my hair and I could hardly get to the circuit breaker! You could say I blew another fuse - stepping on junk! They have model airplanes and RC car gas engines and parts scattered all over the place. I had strict orders not to move anything! He wanted his friend over tonight and I said only if they CLEAN THE BASEMENT. Notice the friend didn't show up. ~ I'm off to check out your article - Congratulations! ~ Robyn

Your dining room is just wonderful! They did a great job showing your wonderful home. I even got to find out what your next book is about! lol I use to make cakes, for family. I took a cake decorating course in my 20's, for I worked at a florist and helped a cater. So funny, yesterday, I found all my gadgets for cake decorating, my daughter tried to take it home. She said I wish I knew you had all this, I would have got it while you were working out of state! Lot of cake memories! I just love making doll cakes, wedding cake. I stopped and started buying, lol Maybe on day I start back.
