A Beach Party in the Mountains: Outdoor Wednesday

I'm happy to participate in Outdoor Wednesday this week. Check out Susan's blog, (http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com), A Southern Daydreamer) for a list of bloggers who are sharing their wonderful outdoors.
Today, I'm back on the side porch with a beachy tablescape. Shall we go outside?
I've made a tablescape for two--again.
Since I live on a hilltop that overlooks a pond, not an ocean, I decided to create my own beach with an all white theme.
The dishes are vintage...and the shells came from Big Lots.

White tablecloth + shells = beach
You have to really use your imagination here. :-)
Let's pretend the twig flatware is really coral.
For dessert, white chocolate starfish, complete with brown sugar sand.

(P.S. We lost internet service today for a while--an electrical surge zapped our router--so if I go missing, it means the temporary router failed. The new part should be here Thursday.)

Gollum, that is a lovely beach table, and your view! It's magnificent. With a view like that you can dream the beach is there, and that beautiful French door and handsome ballustrade could easlily be a door and masonry ballustrade on the terrace of Viscaya, overlooking Biscayne Bay.

I'm on my own little private mental beach this week, and I'm well into the book and LOVING IT! Oh, it is SO good. More later, but I'm going to request some of the others (in hardback) for my birthday this summer from Mr. Magpie. They are perfect to read any season!

Here's hoping your router is working again soon. I had started a post for Friday, but I have to drive to Cecelia's dance recital. So I will have to catch up with y'all on another Friday.

Happy Outdoor Wednesday...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Lovely beach party and place setting. I love living near the beach, but being in the flat lands, I wouldn't mind seeing a hill now and then!

Your beach tablescape is beautiful and your mountain view lovely, relaxing and so perfect! The all white is very elegant and romantic.:-)
I just read 'Mermaids in the Basement' last month and enjoyed it very much. While in VA I even had my Mr. B drive me to the Outer Banks of NC to see Nags Head, two weeks ago! The Ocean was not happy on that day and it was quite cold. We ate a t a place called, 'Awful Arthurs'!
But I could picture the house and the beach just the way your wrote about it. I truly enjoyed the read and your talent very much.
I do hope your burns have healed!

Hi Gollum
Loved the table and I am almost certain I heard the ocean while sitting at your lovely table. Actually who needs the ocean, you have plenty of beauty in your very own backyard. Happy Outdoor Wednesday.

A lovely beach table -- and who cares if you're overlooking a pond instead of the ocean -- it's still water!

We on the prairie think of water as ponds or lakes --

Helen said...

Oh, Gollum, it takes no imagination whatsoever to feel this beach vibe. Fresh, crisp, sandy, perfectly lovely. Who needs the ocean? This alternative works!

Great Idea. I'm not far from the beach but sometimes getting there is more stressful than I can handle so I do the same...set up outside and white with sea shells is a great idea. Love the blog design.

I don't know if it's the sunshine, which is always a distraction to us Northwesters. It's so fleeting.
I am having so much trouble concentrating on blogging(sunshine and menopause a dangerous mix). I barely made the DB "rose is a rose" event. Hopefully I can focus on this weeks.

I could have sworn I saw seagulls fly over your gorgeous seascape. I have to say... I adored the white chocolate starfish with brown sugar. They were the piece de resistance.

Love the new look too!

Sweet wishes,
Sara
