Foodie Friday

Welcome to Foodie Friday. No food from me this week, as I have been living on Breathe Easy tea and Kitkats. I should be back to full time blogging by December 1st, as my book deadline is Nov 30.

Sometimes I get close to burning out, so I putter around the house. Writing and decorating go together like potato chips and a low-carb diet--not recommended (unless you are writing about decorating, which I'm not).
But you know me, I will eat every last chip in the bag; I will decorate, even if it is to my own disadvantage.
Now I've taken down the "summer look" white stuff:

and I'm halfway to my goal of a "winter look"

Again, not recommended if you have a full time job that involves sitting in front of a laptop, eating potato chips, and not combing your hair, much less hauling rugs from the basement. I asked the men what they thought and got, "Yeah, it's nice." However, this afternoon the truth came out when Iwas majorly teased about my judicious use of red. Dr. Gollum said all that's lacking (I haven't shown All but will soon) are red lightbulbs. They won't be laughing when the temperature drops. Ha!

Hugs to all,
Michael
If you are participating in Foodie Friday this week, Mr. Linky awaits your information.

Men! They have to say something! I love it--just the right amount of red. I had better not let him in my dining room. He'll call the vice squad. Hope you don't mind my "storebought" food this week. I know you will breath a heavy sigh of relief when your editing is done--I can't wait! Thanks for letting us play here!

MEN...you can't live with 'em and can't live without 'em !
Course, you probably know by now that I LOVE RED so this is all amazing to my eyes.
I can hardly wait for this book to be finished so I can buy it, read it and read it again!!

Well, your men wouldn't be happy here either as I have red and gold in my bedroom too! I love the richness of the colors. Just don't have it in me to go all white....even in summer. I MISS YOU MICHAEL! Can't wait til you are back but understand how much pressure you are under. XO, Pinky

I love it. I am new enough around here that I don't know what you write. I must find time to find out!

I love your red. Once my house was on a historic homes tour and I overheard a snarky tourist say, "Whoever lives here REALLY likes Red!" and I stepped right up and said, "I sure do - they call me the Molly Brown of this city." Not sure if he knew about Molly Brown, but he sure did start to gush over the decor at that point. :D Jewel

Michael, you're not going to believe it, but I bought that same bedding a little while back. I just love it. I finally put it on the bed after taking my light-weight cream matelasse coverlet off.

Can't wait til you're back blogging with us again. I'm sure you'll be relieved too. Have a great weekend!

Yall make me feel so much better about my reds. I do love that color!

My mother loved red in decorating, and so I thought, "Oh I can't use RED in MY house." And guess what? RED. It's a fabulous color for a house, warm and intimate, stimulating and vibrant. Your men are LUCKY you like Red!

And also lucky you have made such a stunning home for them.

What a gorgeous home! It is so autumn-y in hue.

My mother taught me that every man deserves a 4x4 cubby in his own home to decorate - the rest is ours!! My husband's space is on the back porch. I can't wait to read your new book.

your room looks wonderful, red? heck i can scare the bloodshot right out of their eyes and show you my red red red and bottle green room!

Michael Lee West said...

My solution may be to add more red. Somethings, though (whether in novel writing or decorating) just have to stay in a room, and you've got to work around them. Don't yall think that? My gold headboard and sofa are like that.

At to the food, Bandwith and I are definitely making a grocery list. The recipes sound delicious.

It's all absolutely beautiful and inspirational.

I am having a hard time parting with my white "beachy" guestroom decor. I know I should switch to warmer colors but I am holding on to the lighter look. Thanks for hosting today. I am still confused on the URL and the name blocks. I will get it one of these days!

Gollum, I really love it! Maybe I need to go find a red lightbulb, too. ;-) It looks great. Very, very comfy/cozy and pretty, too.
I have learned NOT to ask Mr. Magpie anything and take it to my girlfriends, instead. Although, Mr. Magpie does have his moments of brillance with selecting art and an occasional bauble or two. ;-)

Hope the book editing all goes well. I wish I could sit down and eat a bag of chips. I'm off carbs. BOO! HISS! Oh, what I wouldn't give for about two dozen of those little Halloween chocolates and a big bag of Lays. Sigh.

XO,

Sheila :-)

Just had to say that I have the same window treatments and pillows. We also handle stress the same way, except I opt for chocolate instead of salt. ;O) The room DOES NOT need a red light bulb. Dr. G needs rest! LOL!

Love the new winter change. I am sitting here eating veges. I tell Mr. Williams he can decorate his barn anyway he wants; but stay out of the decorating for the house just help with the major purchases.
