Foodie Friday: Christmas Day 2009

Merry Christmas, Foodies!
Bandwidth and I made Christmas Eve gumbo. . .
A family tradition. He opened the oysters--first time ever--and made a roux. Also on the menu:
Smoked turkey
Dressing
Salad
Fruit
Rum Cake and Mascarpone
Tomorrow, the epic cooking begins.

If you are linking to Foodie Friday this week, Mr. Linky awaits.

Merry Christmas, Gollum!

Got in LATE from our Christmas Eve dinner, and I have been working in the kitchen. I have a new recipe from a friend that if everyone enjoys it tomorrow, I will post on a future FF. Also got the "cups," but these are a wee bit small. I'm still going to use them. I will serve the ice cream cup on the side with a slice of cake. Am using organic raspberries on the ice cream. The cake turned out SO cute.

Your menu sounds delicious, and I'm so proud of Bandwith for doing so much cooking! I think you have a budding chef on your hands. Are you having oyster dressing? Love it! And of course gumbo goes without speaking. It's the best! That reminds me so much of my mother because we used to have gumbo for Christmas Eve lunch every year. We were all such big gumbo fans, particularly my father.

Merry Christmas! Hope you and your family have a holiday that is filled with laughter, joy, and love...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Have fun, your young bandwith is becoming quite the chef, will we see him on Hells Kitchen next year?? lol. Your menu sounds delicious. I took our young bandwith to the cheesecake factory today, we all ate way to much and I am still wrapping gifts now, hope Santa is good to you all, Kathy x

Your pecans were a hit!! I just ate another handful! :) Very good! Thanks for sharing the recipe. I did a post on them and linked to your recipe. The gumbo sounds good. In another couple of days I will be wanting a good hamburger after all the ham, turkey, etc.
Hope you are enjoying the Holidays!
