Layers, layers, layers.
A red toile bedspread makes a colorful tablecloth, and it tells a story of French milkmaids, chateaus, and courting couples.
My mother brought a ton of ivy, and I wound it though organdy napkin sheaths, dishes, crystal, old silver, and a glass candle stick. For the centerpiece, I used a clock.
Here lately, I've even been burning toast. The kitchen gods are not pleased. But Mr. Linky will be here Thursday evening if you want to share your menu.
I bought the pink champagne glasses a long time ago. The white dinner plates are Wedgwood, mixed with retro china from the 1950s.

ReplyDeleteHello, Michael. Yours was the first Tablescape Thursday post I visited this evening (well, after Susan's ... of course)! I'm always delighted when I see that you're a participant. I know we're in for a visual treat and a healthy dose of that sparkling wit of yours!
ReplyDeleteI made Turkey Doodle Soup for Foodie Friday and took a slightly unappetizing photograph. Now I just have to remember how I made it and write down something that resembles a recipe.
Your toile table is truly romantic and absolutely gorgeous. Your beautiful photographs captured it perfectly!
Wishing you and yours a very Happy New Year!
Bill

Not sure what we are doing I thinking hubby may go to a casino, and I be home alone. I need to put a plan together for New Years Day, I'm sure the kids will be coming in. ReplyDeleteHope the upcoming new year is all that you would like it to be.
Excuse me while I put my slipper-socks back on....you just knocked 'em off with this one, Michael! It is glamorous, engaging, aesthetically pleasing, clever,(♥ the bedspread/tablecloth) poetic & soooo genteel. I'm running out of adjectives to describe how I feel about it. You are truly talented, Lady!
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your blog so very much this past year. Thank you for sharing your beautiful world & I hope that you and Dr. Gollum have a very happy & healthy 2010.
What an elegant table for two! The toile bedspread gives such and warm but regal touch. It's wonderful how you intertwined the ivy, but my favorite are the napkins! I hadn't noticed those in the Horchow catalog. I'll have to take a closer look.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your idea of using the clock as the centerpiece. That is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteI adore the toile tablecloth. I have been looking for a red toile tablecloth. Where in the world did you find one?
And, those organza napkin sheaths.♥♥♥
