Bloggers share their ideas, words, and photography, but sometimes articles get buried by the sheer weight of daily, or near-daily, postings. A free ebook would be a tidy solution. I've been meaning to try one for a while, but I was scared of pdfing. If you've wanted to create an online book for your recipes, tablescapes, photographs, travels, and how-to projects, the ebook is a simple way to share your ideas.I've got to tell you, right before I hit the publish button, I kept thinking, "Lulu is going to charge me for this!" But it was 100% free. The downside was, I couldn't go back and edit the big spaces or shrink the photographs. Live and learn...but it was fun.
Ready to start? Here's a quick, *free* way to consolidate your favorites for family and friends.
1. Go into Blogger's "edit posts" mode and hit "preview"
2. Copy the article, then paste into a wordprocessing file
3. Save in PDF format (Wordperfect 2007 has this or you can download a free pdf converter). http://www.freepdfconvert.com/
4. upload your file at www.lulu.com .
Ignore the $ stuff. At the very end of the upload, you can opt to share your file at no charge to you or your readers. Lulu protects your creative content in your name. There are levels of (c) protection, too, all without cost to you. Which is pretty amazing.
The possibilities are endless. I'm going to try and make my granddaughter a personalized ebook about the farm--with the Amazing Annabel as the main character. Mister may have his own e-book before it's over.
I invite you to peek at my ebook, "Winter Notebook," by clicking HERE
Hope you enjoy it!

That's really cool. I'd never heard of Lulu.
there is a great push to print and bind...whether it be electronically or in paper form...
there are so many voices~with so much to say...i feel blessed that technology has given us such wonderful opportunities to explore, with such ease, the world around us.
What a clever idea. This is brilliant, I have often thought I have so many posts that I really would like to put into some folder. This is a lovely way to give away something that your readers will cherish.

I can't believe the new things I'm learning every day here in Blogland. Thank you Michael!

Great tip! Thanks for sharing. This would be a great way to share a "cookbook" with family and friends.
Thank you! I always wondered about doing that :)
What a great way to document the renovations we've made on our house.
What a great idea - Thanks for sharing the information.
Have you thawed out up there yet? :-)
What fun Gollum.. This is the first I've heard of LuLu! thanks so much for sharing. I'm looking forward to putting this into action.. lol hugs ~lynne~
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing. Nice books by the way.

I'll look forward to seeing your ebooks! This may be the ultimate in seasonal blog decorating. It should make it easy (time-saving)to change items on the sidebar--one click, and it's done. Instead of 15 recipes, just one link to the 15. Etc. Sometimes mine gets weedy and I'll spend a lot of time deleting and shuffling things in "layout").
This looks just like those $75 books on my coffee table...er... trunk. Lovely photos in the preview and on the cover.
Too funny! I made a Valentine's ebook, too. I must say, their computer is nitpicky about photo sizes for the cover. That's the hardest part. The process made me eat chocolate. Lulu isn't the only player; Amazon.com has an ebook program. If it's easier, I'll try it for Annabel's "farm" book.
Nice tip -- thanks!
I'd love to make a "sights in NYC book" for my grandson, and another with all my recipes for my daughter.
Wow. One day when my brain is using all its cells, I will have to do that. I have been saving (copy & paste)
the text of my blog to my documents via Text. (IMAC)

Good fill someone in on and this enter helped me alot in my college assignement. Thanks you seeking your information.
What a cool idea, Michael! Thanks for telling us newbies about it, as I was totally unaware something like this existed.
I ♥ yours!!!
Hi Michael,
Thank you so much for sharing your ebook with us. It was beautiful just like your blog. That is such
a neat thing. I definitely think I might like to do that as well.
Your tablescapes always inspire me!
They are truly beautiful, and you should definitely get the most beautiful photo award! You do a great job and I so enjoy coming here. It adds fun to my day because it is so pleasant and delightfully beautiful!
Did I say beautiful again, sorry
but it is the most descriptive word I can think of for it right now.
Have a Wonderful day,
Blessings, Nellie
I'll have to admit you were speaking about me! My nickname! LOL! This is a great thing! Thanks for sharing!
Luanne
P.S. Your header is beautiful as well as your blog!
Thanks for sharing...I was looking at doing this on Lulu a couple weeks ago but did not know it was free and laid it aside to try at a later time. I'm going to take a look at yours and then I know I will just have to do it right away. Thanks for letting everyone know.
A Foodie Friday cookbook is in the works. If you have a moment, please check out the poll on the sidebar. Add your voice; help shape the cookbook-to-be.
Thanks Gollum,
The only LuLu I knew about was the character on General Hospital. LOL
I'll have to give this a try.
Happy Ground Hogs Day !!!!
Six more weeks of winter.
Ohhhhh Shucks... :(

Thanks for the link! I am always being asked to do a "book", so this is a great no-risk, fun way to try it out!
Judith, let me know when you do. I love your tablescapes!
Wow!!!! Thanks bunches and bunches for sharing that! That's way cool!!!
Thank you! This is so neat!
I have to say that I love to curl up with a "book" too. However, I absolutely LOVE my Kindle! I will always have "books" with me....they fill my bookcases, they sit on my nightstand, they are perched on my lamp table in my diva den, my cookbooks are nestled together in the breakfast room bookcase, and my Kindle goes everywhere with me.
I have been a lurker on your blog for a long time. You never cease to amaze me.

The photos in your ebook are gorgeous, but I can see where you had problems with your layout. Things just didn't end up on the right page did they? I know this isn't your fault, it lies in the program used.
How do I know this? Well, because this is what I do for a living, lol. I wish I could tell you an easy answer, but there isn't one. That is unless you want to spend $300 for a layout program such as Adobe's InDesign or Quark. It is what professional designers use to layout books, magazines, newspapers, etc.
I don't know if there is such a program for someone who just wants to design ebooks, but what you would look for is a layout program.
I don't know if you ever heard of it, but I donated my time to a group of bloggers for their Bloggeraid Cookbook. The profits went to the school meal program at the World Food Programme. I designed the book for them.
Love how you're giving bloggers ideas to create their own ebooks.
