You may have noticed
, but my blog is on hiatus until September. I'm working on a new book, which will be published in 2012 (just in time for the Mayan prophecy, my mother says...but I'm going to think positive). Foodie Friday will still be here. Also, I pop in on Facebook from time to time. So far, this summer has been a repeat of last year, with windows spontaneously shattering, escape artist goats, illness, and general household brokebackness. Whether it's blogging, journaling, or writing a novel, we all must deal with obligations, deadlines, interruptions...and the unexpected. When you try to control your environment, when you strive to minimize speedbumps that pull you away from a project (and most writers will tell you that the hardest part of writing is picking up that pen), a funny thing happens...control doesn't work. Creativity doesn't respond well to a chokehold. Creativity knows that life springs from everything. The only thing within our control is how we respond. Naturally that's the hardest part.
I keep a Zen saying on my bulletin board:
"Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless--like water. Now put water into a cup; it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle; it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash.
Be water, my friend."
Speaking of water, if you are participating in Foodie Friday, add your information. If you need help, click on the tutorial.
Michael, I hope all is better with your boys and those darling ducks. I know I've told you, but that pan would be wonderful. How do I love a Kiwi Le Creuset pan?? Let me count the ways.... frittatas, paninis, crepes, and clafoutis. Cutlets and shortcakes and sausage and patooties. (okay, that was Allie's rhyme for clafoutis!) You get the idea- we'd love the pan! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeletexoxo Pattie and Allie
2012 is a long time off---couldn't you just cheat and let us read early---there are only 981 of us and we won't tell a soul :) Hope the guys are better and Bandwith is resting without being tied down. We are fond of "This too shall pass" and "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" around here. Take care, and keep the creative juices flowing!
ReplyDelete:-) It has taken a LOT of cake, I'll tell you. Last year the blog was on hiatus while I wrote and wrote. Those books will be out in 2010 and 2011.

P.S.Bandwidth finished his first novel! Yay! Now what? he asked. I said, Now, you revise. Rinse, lather, repeat.
I love your saying about the water. Right now I have a loved one going through a difficult time and possible a life changing decision. I'm going to tell him to be like water. Thank you.

Loui♥
So happy to be back with Foodie Fridays! Thank you!! You are the best!!
ReplyDeleteWould love to win this Le Creuset
ReplyDeletepan.
How wonderful the pan would be for Crepe Suzette's. I have always wanted to make them as Suzette is my daughter's name.
ReplyDeleteHope the ducks are not too stressed from the shipping. I love the water saying! I shall take it to heart! I so loved hearing you on book talk. Our lives are similar. lol Except my house and the kitchen is in the 40/50 era. I love it. No cabinets, just glass and metal pie safes, and hosier. I was thinking when you write, and you have all the goats getting out,or all the things that go wrong on the farm, maybe the the cake lady could have her business flood, and have to go to her relatives farm for few days. Then she will get a taste of your life as she runs after the goats and burns the cake. lol My little lamb died, and my favorite chick. Yes, it can be sad times on the farm, but all in all it so much fun. Seeing fields of peas, watermelons, etc. If only the animals don't get out and eat them. lol I'm hoping the chickens stay away from my grapes this year! Have fun writing!
I've been missing you too! Looking forward to the books!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!
~Liz

ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting! The pan looks wonderful. Good luck with your writing.
ReplyDeleteLove the color of the pan in your give-a-way. Many ways to use it. Thanks for the opportunity to win.
ReplyDeleteLove the ducks. Got quite a laugh over the P.O. request for you to come quickly because of one box quacking and one honking. Just love it!
I am so embarrassed. I have been looking at Ml West on my FB friend request and did not have a clue who that was. Duh! I believe it is you. Where was my head at. Sorry!!! Thanks for hosting a wonderful giveaway! I have a Le Creuset Dutch oven and it is wonderful. This pan looks awesome too. I will accept your request. Love & blessings from NC!
ReplyDeleteHope you have lots of good brain power this summer to finish your book and not too many unwanted distractions. :-)
ReplyDeletethanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI hope those little ducklings are doing well, my parents ordered mail-order chickens once when i was young. Going to get the package was so exciting!
Mlee! Thanks for sharing the real food love with us this friday! My recipe is a traditional family favorite for greek meatballs or keftedes that I have made healthier by using grass fed meat and sourdough bread crumbs and pastured eggs! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI love Le Creuset - their pans can make just about any food delicious! I've got several of the casseroles but I've never used one of their frying pans before. The colour is great too. Best wishes with your writing, and thanks for hosting Foodie Friday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great saying. I thought when I started blogging that writing every week would be impossible. It hasn't. I start with an idea or a recipe and just write... soon the blog is written. Even when I can't quite find the tag I just come back to it every day and then wham, there it is. Water... we are, afterall mostly water!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your book this summer, but thanks for keeping Foodie Fridays, I love perusing the list!
ReplyDeleteI'd also love the Le Creuset for so many reasons, but the biggest might be omelets...my daughter and I make them every weekend!
Ooh, a new book? What's it all about? That pan would be perfect for making a frittata.
ReplyDeleteThat is the coolest pan I have ever seen! Please enter me in the drawing.
ReplyDeleteWondering about your new book. Are you giving any hints or clues about it?
Donna
Please enter me as well. I love the heaviness of the pan, the way it distributes heat evenly. The color rocks!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute pan!!! Would love to have a new pan to replace my ugly very well use done! Thanks for hosting even with being so busy! Good luck with your book!
ReplyDeleteWe will be missing you, but I am glad that we can still visit on FF!
ReplyDeleteMy youngest will be a senior in HS next year. He's a big boy and every other day is an omelet or French Toast before school. How nice it would be to use the kiwi(ahhhh) pan to make his last year of breakfasts! (until college boy moves back in!)
xo,
~Nancy

Thanks for hosting foodie Fridays... I always love looking through all of the great recipes.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted a whole set of Le Creuset. They became really popular RIGHT after I invested in my all clad stainless set... but I have secretly longed for the enameled cast iron. Sigh. And they are so beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Best of luck with your new book...you know, if the world doesn't end first ;)
I love this pan because it is the color of the 1976 Grand LeMans that I drove for 19 years! And, oh boy, do I understand the time crunch. My conflicts currently have conflicts!
ReplyDelete'cause your blog is so amazing I have added it to my "new" housewife post. :)
ReplyDeleteI bought a piece of Le Creuset, a few months ago and I love it. This is a wonderful giveaway. I could easily outfit myself with Le Creuset. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful blog. My first time on your blog and I find a lovely giveaway. Love a Le Creuset pan.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this LeCreust frying pan! The color is wonderful and I love their products. I have a LeCreust dutch oven and I use it all the time.

Sending 'get better wishes' to the men folk in your life. Hopefully they shall back on their feet quickly and doing 'the 30-yard dash' (Baseball jargon) without effort.
ReplyDeleteThe new additions to your family of critters are absolutely adorable. (Donald, Daisy, Huey, Dewey, Louie, Phooey, Rumpus, Scrooge, Dumbella and ...... ???)
Also, best of luck on your writing. May the floodgates of creativity open. As far as the Mayan prophecy goes 'the transfer of power from masculine to feminine' may be a good thing. So
YOU GO GIRL! :)
...and lastly, good luck to all those who enter your giveway.
HAVE A GREAT WEEK! -Brenda-
Great pan, love the color green. I think I could put it to good use. Oh Yeah!!!
ReplyDeleteI have an orange Le Creuset covered casserole that I got as a wedding present 35-1/2 years ago! Still using it on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteLove the color of this pan. Hope the duckies are fine and both the guys are ok too.
ReplyDeleteNice color!
ReplyDeleteLove the pan-- have a million uses for it!
ReplyDeleteThe pan speaks to me and says I would love to be on your stove!
ReplyDeleteThe color makes me smile!
Hope boys and ducks and everyone are doing better. I must say, I've never had mail that quacks, that is a first. And I love the kiwi Le Cruset. I must admit that the only thing it would be used for this summer is eye candy but come autumn I can picture some serious cooking going on in it! Right now it is just too hot and humid to even think about anything being cooked in my house. We will miss you whilst you toil away on your book but look forward to your return to bloggy world.

ReplyDeleteI love the color of that pan! I think I need to win it. Teehee!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting Foodie Fridays. It is such fun to connect with so many great cooks and see their blogs. I would love the pan because I love Le Creuset cookware and I don't have any green pans and it is such a fun color. I don't care if I win, but it is fun to come to Foodie Fridays. Have a nice hiatus.
