I love picnics, old Adirondacks, and vintage tablecloths.
Salads are the perfect picnic food--easily transportable.
A decorative "beehive" to cover food.
Polka dots and plaid.
Fruit and blueberry scones are also easily transportable.

My hubby and I used to go on picnics often before we were married...
Our picnics usually consisted of salami, cheeses, crackers, smoked oysters, fruit, a bottle of wine and a bit of romance... Gee, whatever happened to those days!

ReplyDeleteI love this post. Who wouldn't want to picnic in that perfect setting. Well...maybe my husband. The last time I tried to set up a little picnic outside a yellow jacket bit him. You can be rest assured he won't be agreeing to that again any time soon! The past couple of years I've been doing portable individual desserts when we take a lunch to eat elsewhere..kind of like mini trifles.

.., My favorite picnic food is a bit unusual; It's , 'baked beans'!.., My dear grandma and then later also her son, my dad; they used bake a heavenly, homemade crock of beans and then bury the crock pot in the sand to keep them toasty warm..,
.., They would then dig them up;( they were well sealed in their pot and well covered of course), and then serve them with fluffy biscuits, cheese, chow chow pickles, potato salad, coleslaw, tomatoes, cucumbers and country ham.., Just thinking about this lovely memory 'makes my mouth water'! ~ We live near the Atlantic Ocean in Nova Scotia, Canada..,

I love picnics any time, anywhere! My favorite memory though was right under the shade of a big tree in my backyard. Those in attendance were my mother, my sister, my daughter and myself. Three generations of strong women laughing, eating and enjoying time together. I'll never forget my mom's laugh and how much she loved my daughter. A special picnic indeed!

ReplyDeleteFavourite picnic food would have to be a chilled glass of Chardonnay, french bread and creamy Brie. Best memory of a picnic; when I was about seven months old and could actually touch my toes without any difficulty (as in the photo). :)
