Bandwith and I made cookies this morning. I couldn't find my bat cookie cutter, but the ghost was awfully cute.
You are prolly thinking, Gollum has conquered the cookie/icing problem, right?
Tra la la.
Not a chance. Our cookies developed major hip-spread. For those who like to slow down and look at trainwrecks, here's a doozy.
The icing wouldn't thicken. Before I realized what was going on, the icing had spilled off the pan, onto my gas cooktop, then streaked across the floor.
The second batch was better.

The second batch was better. All were edible, I'm happy to report.

Our Internet connection has been spotty, so I'm posting while I have a chance. If you are participating in the week's Foodie Friday, please add your recipe below:

Those cookies look so yummy! I love your decorations too!
Oh, dear! I'm so glad you were able to resolve the cookie disaster! (They look delicious, too.)
Blessings,
Michele :)
I haven't made Halloween cookies in ages. Michael, these look so good! Thanks for hosting again this week.
Sounds like you were hanging around in my kitchen... I always have trouble with the frosting. But....mmmmmm...the cookies always taste good!
Jane (artfully graced)
My kids love "delicious disasters". Your cookies look scrumptious!
Oh, that happened to me once with a ganache that didn't set... seems like I still find chocolate every once in awhile:) Great collage!
Wonderful cookies - sweet icing with a mind of it's own!
Great pictures, as always. Have a wonderful weekend ~
I just love coming to your blog, it is so beautiful.
Thank you for hosting.
Did your housekeeper fire you after seeing that mess? Kiddin Miss "G"! Looks like fun and perhaps your cookies were a little "haunted"?

Now I'm in the mood for halloween. this looks like so much fun.
That is the story of my cookie life! Check out the link in my post--Bake at 350. It gives me hope and envy too :) Glad to see its just spotty internet. I was getting worried :)
I forgot---LOVE the mosaic!
I love your beautiful photographs! As for icing cookies, I've had my share of struggles with it in the past too - but it's great fun eating the 'mistakes' - everyone is always disappointed when I get the texture right first time! :)
I like fun messes in the kitchen!
:)

I love to make those at Halloween. The kids always loved them. Your mosaic looks wonderful with all the seasonal decor.

Your cookies turned out cute! I like the orange and black sprinkles, and the icing on the ghost cookies!
I don't know, why is it charming when you see others have issues when they make things too? Your cookies made me laugh as it's happened to all of us ( I once did the opposite with a frosting that was too thick and I was out of butter!). The cookies are adorable!
I shared a pumpkin scone recipe that I made yesterday. I have to say I think this is the best recipe I've ever made in my life! They are SO good! I made a second batch for the freezer but I think they'll be gone before the weekend is over.
Love the cookies! I bet they're delicious, too.
Thanks for hosting FF.

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays mainly because of all the cute fun stuff and your post is one of those :-)
You're right....the little ghost is so cute....love how you post your little disasters as well as your successes! And these certainly turned out a success. Great Halloween collage too. :0
What cute cookies! Love them!
This week I am sharing my spectacular sauteed green beans.

Those are just absolutely adorable!!! I love Halloween treats, and those cookies are perfect. - www.delightfulcountrycookin.com
Wow, this link-up is MASSIVE! Well done! YOur frosted cookies look delicious, thanks for sharing.
My Mom always used to tell me that it didn't matter what it looked like...just how it tasted...So we always ate divinity candy on crackers...since it hardly ever hardened enough to cut into pieces!!!
Great memories and divinity on saltine crackers is a great duo!!!
Glad to hear these things happen to other people and not just me. The sprinkles make your cookies look great. This is a great party!
I did a cake decorating course and they taught us to make royal icing - using icing sugar and egg white - it dries and sets really well. Lovely site. It was nice to share a recipe here. KG
I love how you wrote "prolly". My sweet, Romanian, husband always says, "prolly" and has us all saying it now. It's just his take on our Texas drawl, I suppose.
Woohoo - Another Friday full of great food!
Your cookies turned out cute even with all of your trouble.
Thanks for hosting. Have a great weekend.

I actully laughed out loud when I saw the train wreck but I KNOW they are all delicious! YOu crack me up!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I thank you for sharing your messes, it makes us all feel more human!!!! XO, Pinky
Some of my messes even the birds avoid! LOL
Looks aren't everything!
Just discovered your delightful blog! I just LOVE your ghostie cookies. The great thing about what flops in the kitchen is you get to eat the flawed ones!
Wow, these are just awesome! I love you presentation too! Happy Weekend!
I love your funny cookies! Major hip spread...now I know what happened to me! LOL!
Too funny...and good to know tht I'm not the only one who has accidents like this...lol I'm such a fan of sugar cookies...this makes me want to dig out my recipe for my soft sugar cookies. It calls for sour cream...yum! Thanks for hosting and I made it before Friday turned into Saturday...it's been one of those days...but after seeing your post I can see you totally understand. Fondly, Roberta
OH NO!!!!!!!! Glad that sort of thing happens to others too. Hope the good fairy came along to clean up. But, I bet those tasted good. Charlene
Those ghosts are just funky and adorable! Sometimes things look too perfect, and these are just right for me...thanks for hosting.
The cookies were awfully cute, even though they were a bit frustrating for you! Thanks for sharing!

Memo to myself: being a Canadian, I must get myself a Maple Leaf cookie cutter someday. :)
OH MY! Looks just like my kitchen when I was raising my children. The fun it eating the mistakes.
Often, when I would baking for PTA, my kids would ask "Mom, do we have any mistakes".
Looks like you are having a Halloween Ball!
I have jumped in and started a blog. I have three posts published. Please take a look. Any suggestions are appreciated. I know it is still crude but I am reading up and will be tweeking it soon. Hugs, Ginger
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA -- Ok, what's wrong with me that the shot of the runamuck icing is my favorite in this post?
Laugh out loud funny -- mostly because we've all been there. Well, I have, anyway.
Boo!
Cass
They look fine to me. The plus in less than perfect cookies though is that you never feel guilty eating them.
Thanks for hosting!!
