The pub-date for Gone With a Handsomer Man is almost here! There's still time to enter the copper cookware contest.I'm counting the days until the launch party.

Here's a mini-excerpt from Chapter 5 in GWAHM. Without giving away any spoilers, this chapter involves Teeny Templeton, the main character of GWAHM, who needs a place to spend the night. The following scene describes a (fictional) pink house on Rainbow Row in Charleston's historic district:

Photo (c) Anweber - Fotolia.comI walked past an oval staircase. Paintings of angry-looking women stared down from the walls, silently warning me not to touch anything. I’d never seen this much finery, not even at Miss Dora’s home, and it scared me.
I stopped in front of a table and dropped the tasseled key chain into a crystal bowl. A piece of glass chipped off and skittered to the floor. I leaned over to examine the bowl. Waterford. I’d been in the house three minutes and I’d already damaged a priceless artifact.
I squatted beside the staircase, fit my inhaler into my lips, and sucked in the bitter Ventolin. I was dying for a cup of tea but when I get tired, I get clumsy. Even if I drank water from the tap, I’d break the faucet. If I stayed longer than a night, I’d want to cook barbecued ribs and fry a batch of coconut shrimp, but a house like this cried out for cheese soufflĂ© and cold watermelon soup.
Photo (c) Maksim Shebeko - Fotolia.comI couldn’t see myself cooking here. I’d inherited the untidy gene—all the Templeton women had it. We cooked from scratch, creating feather-light biscuits. But we also made epic messes.

Oh my. Poor Teeny... I can relate to her already.. bless her heart. I got such a giggle from the exerpt and I'm looking forward to getting the book.
Hope your St. Patrick's Day is the greenest.
Oh I can't wait, I have clicked away several times saying I want GWHM in kindle form. I just finished Mad Girls in love, could not put it down. Now I would love to bake a peaches and cream cake in a copper pan...he he, but I left my dog in Charleston and need to go get him.
Love your style!
Donna

I am so happy for you, and I can feel your excitement! Can't wait for my pre-ordered book to arrive!!
MY, MY, I LOVE it! And I'm not a fiction reader, but I may have to read this one. I'm live in the Charleston area, which my aunt LOVES. My mom is an avid novel reader and loves any kind of sweets (thus, CAKE!). Now I know just what to get her for Mother's Day (can't remember if it's out by then)!
My husband, aka "The Chef" has`always wanted a bulldog and one of his most recent culinary creations included a peach ingredient...
LOL ... You hit on things so near and dear in our lives. Guess great Southern minds do think alike... ;)
Copper cookware would be awesome.
So excited to read this! Thanks for hosting!
Happy St. Patrick's Day, Michael! Your book is amazing! I'm craving cupcakes now...wonder why? Does Teenie have a weight problem because I'm going to if I read this post again. LOL :)
