Foodie Friday--finally!

***Announcement: Blogger’s maintainence issues caused widespread disruption, and Foodie Friday was delayed. Without further ado, I’m going to post super-fast before Blogger hiccups again.***

Welcome to the May 13th Foodie Friday,I hope everyone’s blog is functioning now and you are able to peruse the recipes and visit other blogs. This week, Teeny is off the menu, and I headed to Publix bakery.

I pulled out my tiny, trusty Pentax digital and made a beeline for the carbohydrates.

Oh, look at the cupcakes, all snug in their boxes. They should make the trip home without an icing spill.

Now let’s check out the display case.

Petit fours, sunflower cake with mile-high icing, more cupcakes. It’s okay to drool.

Let’s move in for a closer look. Is your cholesterol rising? Mine is.

Decisions, decisions. Which loaf of bread?

(I’ve tried them all—and the mini pizzas.)

Because I’m trying to avoid icing, due an allergy called Big Thigh Disorder, here is the vegetable aisle.

I can’t resist one last look toward Sugar Land.

To add your recipe to this week’s Foodie Friday, spin around three times and say, “Bad Blogger!! Bad!” Then add the permalink address to your post and select a thumbnail photograph. Thanks so much for your patience.

  4. You are hilarious. Wonder what in the world was up with Blogger?! Whew. Hope that never happens again. Thankfully, we didn't have any blog posts for these past couple of days.

You will love the hint of sweet flavor in The Chef's Tangy Cuke and 'Mater Salad! It's delicious... but it shouldn't be enough to trigger that Big Thigh Disorder Allergy!! ;) lol

  5. So happy to see everyone!

As for the pastries, I'm thinking of listing my food intake on Facebook--just to shame myself into eating lettuce. But I don't think it will work.

  10. Me, tooooo! I had to take Prednisone for my ears, and for a while, even the Sheetrock was looking like smooth, white Royal icing.

If anyone wants to join me on a Facebook Foodie-Tell all, I'd appreciate it. Safety in numbers!

  16. Michael Lee I must say that your book in a wonderful read. By the end of chapter 1 I was ready to smack that Bing, but by the end of chapter 5 I really wanted to smack him, hard as I could. Your characters are just that, characters. I want to say that in MHO you did a great job with the book and I can't wait for the next round. When is it due out?

  17. I MISS MY PUBLIX!! We don't have them in Ohio. *sob*

I hear you on all the tempting treats out there, ML. Its a good thing DH is diabetic or I would buy TWICE as many goodies as I do now & I would be TWICE the size, too. Scary thought!
I'm struggling to be good about the sweets but its sooo hard sometimes.

    Hang tough!
    fondly,

  19. I had to laugh looking at this. For the pure pleasure of it, I go into HEB and drool over the baked goods, all of which are so beautiful. In order to resist, I tell myself they can't possibly be as good as they look.

  27. Hi Michael Lee! Blogger should be so ashamed of itself for messing us up like it did! Glad it's back and running now, too!
Oh, I am drooling and I feel so deprived - we don't have Publix around here! WAAA! I don't play Foodie Friday much with you anymore but wanted to tonight!

  28. That is crazy that Blogger tried to do maintenance on Friday the 13th!
I am sharing my recipe for Coconut Pineapple Muffins. This recipe is gluten free, but can be made with "regular" flour if you don't have an issue with gluten.
    Thanks for hosting!

  29. We don't have Publix here in TX, but I shopped at one while vacationing in FL. The cakes were not only pretty, they were delicious. ;-)
I had my post ready early, but Blogger wasn't available this morning before I left the house so I'm late arriving. Glad you were able to get the party up today. ;-)
Have a great weekend! ~ Sarah

  30. Blogger has been having major issues this week. I hope they get everything straightened out soon. Anyway, we've never lived anywhere that had a Publix, but I've heard really nice things about the chain. Happy FF, and have a great weekend.

  33. Your Publix has an amazing display of goodies. Ours has them, but they truly need someone to teach them how to display...

It's so nice to LOOK...but I am now resigned to cut all this out of my diet. How about a "healthy" topic for a Foodie Friday post...I need some tried and true recipes...Hmmmm?

  37. Well, darlin' of Sugar Land, I had my link POSTED and just waiting for FF to go up when Blogger burped real big and I not only lost the post and all the comments, HE even gobbled up my DRAFT. The bad thing...it was a post about my winning YOUR book and a Red Velvet Cupcake, including flowers... So sorry but...I'll catch you the next time around.
