Foodie Friday

My foray into canine cusine has been successful, but every human dish has been humdrum, bland, or inedible (except for Crockpot pinto beans). Sometimes I go through Bad Cooking Spells. Does that ever happen to you?
I cooked a family favorite--Stuffed Peppers with chicken-rice-cornbread stuffing. But something went wrong. It tasted like buttery sawdust.

Maybe this bad chefitis will pass.

A Note from Zap, the Yorkie:
Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. Today was a good day. I'm slowly adjusting to diabetes, though my mom freaks out about everything. She has been baking me especial biscuits
and stews. My favorite supper was turkey meatloaf, but I also liked chicken and broccoli. It was special good with a little brown rice.
I get a serving of cottage cheese and turkey at midnight so my sugar won't drop.
I saw my vet today, and he upped my insulin to 5 units twice a day. I figured that would happen.
Here's a picture my mom took today with her phone.

My two hounds would be in doggie heaven with turkey meatloaf and chicken & broccoli! Hope Zap's new diet & insulin agrees with him and is the perfect recipe for a healthier life & happier mom :)

You're not mixing bland doggy recipes with human ones are you? That's something I would do-especially when life gets hectic.

Awwww! look at that sweet face - sounds like he is well cared for. Yes ! I have lots of "bad cooking spells" these days. I want good food, but don't want the work involved.

What a lucky dog to have a mom like you... I think petunia has a thyroid problem... her hair is too thin! Oye, big problem for a St. Bernard!

Oh yes, I have had those days, usually when I try out a recipe from the net. Such a waste of ingredients and time!
Your pup looks so sad, hope you find the right rememdy.
Thanks again for the goodies and for hosting.

This is a great idea. Your puppy looks so depressed, such a cute face and he's lucky to have you as his mama, poor thing. Yes, I've made some flaps I hated all the wasted ingredients! Thanks for hosting and for having me. Hugs,
FABBY

The peppers look good, even if they didn't turn out like you wanted! I'm relieved Zap is doing better!

I about had a ♥ attack when I first started reading about "diabetes"...I thought it was YOU, ML!! Obviously, I have not visited in awhile. I'm so sorry it is your sweet little Yorkie, Zap, with the diagnosis, but I'm greatly relieved that it isn't YOU!

I finally had a dish worth sharing this week, so I could join in. I had a run of culinary failures, too lately.
Thanks for doing FF, week after week.

fondly,
Rett

p.s. I have found that if I use a package of *Spanish Style* rice that has lots of seasonings in it, I get a better tasting stuffed pepper. Try the Carolina brand if you can find it.

Hope they get Zap's diabetes regulated and he gets back to his old self soon!

The peppers certainly look delish! One thing I've found is that when I've used breads or bread products in veggie stuffings, I get very mixed results, so I stick to rice when doing stuffed peppers and cabbage, etc.

Hope Zap is doing better every day. One of my kitties is diabetic (we're going on year two now) and our vet Rx'd a long-acting insulin called Lantus. His blood sugar seems to remain more stable with it, but I know each animal/person is different.

It's a little more expensive than the old one, but hey, our fur babies are worth every penny, right? Just something to check into...

Hugs and kisses to Zap and I hope things level off for him (and you) soon. Don't forget to take care of YOU, too.
