Happy New Year, Foodies!
Mister and Zap have been very ill this week, and I have been back and forth to the vet. I hope a wordless Foodie Friday will suffice because I'm too bummed to write. Be sure to leave a message and tell everyone your foodie resolutions for 2012. Or tell us why you selected this particular recipe for this week's Foodie Friday.

I hope you have a wonderful New Year. Thank you so much for faithfully hosting Foodie Friday for all of us!
I linked up a pasta dish because pasta says "comfort and simple" to me at the moment. This dish was tasty and just perfect after all of the holiday meal preparation.
I understand the frequent trips to the vet..I hope all goes well for all of you.
I hope Mister and Zap are feeling better soon! I contributed a homemade bread bowl of chili because I am wishing everybody a HAPPY New Year! Chili, especially in yummy homemade bread bowls, is an ultimate comfort food. My resolution is to make healthier food, thus whole wheat bread bowls. Thank you so much for hosting!
Human comfort food is just what the doctor ordered around here. Thank you, Kate! For those who are wondering about the dogs...Mister has elevated liver enzymes and has been very ill all week.
Zap...the vet thinks something else other than diabetes is going on.We can't get Z's blood glucose under control, and he has, within a few weeks, all but lost his vision. We've been reading about how to help blind dogs, and the main thing is to keep talking to them and using key words to help orient them to the environment.
I'm so sorry to read about your dogs' illnesses and I hope that you will find a good way to support Zap as he re-learns his way around.
I've enjoyed visiting Foodie Friday - thank you for all the lovely posts!
Wishes for better health for the furry faction of your family Michael. It is so hard to see them that way and feel helpless. Sending comforting thoughts your way for the New Year!
♥, Susan
I feel so bad for Mister and Zap. At least we humans can express how we feel, the poor doggies can't. I hope they get better soon. All the best for 2012, xo (my foodie resolution is to try to make smart healthy food choices)
Hope Mister and Zap get better soon! Happy New Year! I brought Fruit Cake, and Snowy Chocolate Baby Cakes. Pat
Hi Michael Lee,
Zap has been on my heart for some time as he is following in the foot steps of my Andre. I hope that he and Mister get better soon! My post today is really about my readers and the Top 10 Recipes that they liked the most in 2011 and the joy I had in preparing and presenting them. I am still working on my board and goals for 2012, it will be an exciting year!
A Very Happy New Year and Abundant Blessings to You and Your Family!

So sorry to hear about your babies! I hope they will be better soon. I linked up a yogurt recipe because I received a yogurt maker for a Christmas gift! All part of my eat the best you can plan.
Oh no, that is sad. Hope things improve.
I was at the doc today myself, always something.
I linked up dh's antipasto, and my Yule Log and Death by Chocolate with homemade peppermint bark as the filling.
All from our Christmas feast.
Happy 2012, ML, thanks for hosting and all your kindness!

I hope you and your family have a wonderful new year filled with much happiness, good healthy, and delicious food.
I brought the Cranberry & Blue Cheese Crostini to your party. Thank you so much for all you do for us to host Foodie Friday. You're the best!

I had a very difficult time posting the first comment. Blogger was acting up. I didn't get to finish and then it published my comment twice.
I have the same food resolution every year - do not eat anything standing in the kitchen.
Hope Mister & Zap are feeling better and that Zap adjusts soon. My heart goes out to you. My only children were four-legged ones.
Sam
Hope your puppies get better soon. Have a wonderful NY!!! I am hoping to eat less richly in 2012... a little less. It's hard to do when you are cooking historical recipes... they had never heard of diets and thought gobs of butter was the way things should be cooked.
I can try, can't I??
So sorry to hear about your doggies and hope they are both feeling better soon. I shared a Greek moussaka recipe and a German pork and sauerkraut recipe today. Thank you for hosting us again and have a Happy New Year!
Hi Michelle ;->
I hope all of you are feeling much better VERY soon!
Your Snowmen cake is just adorable!!1 Don't know if I'd cut it to eat it, or just sit there grinning foolishly at it. o;-p
Due to my MIL's recent death, and not wanting to compete with the huge meals she use to prepare for all of us, we did "snackie type foods" this year on that side of the family. I have been posting all of them this week seeings how that's the type of food lots of people make for their New Year's gatherings.
Thank you, ladies, for your New Year's resolutions and your well wishes for my Yorkies. Your recipes look fabulous!!! We are taking Mister back to the vet today for the 3rd time this week. He keeps upchucking, even with meds. Also, he won't stop licking the air. I didn't think things could get worse, then my husband walked into a wall in his office and busted his forehead! Here's to 2012 being a healthy, safe year for all!
I'm sorry to hear that your mister and zap are not well. We'll say a few prayers for you.
I'm sharing some healthy New Year Eve appy recipes to host an amazing party! Happy New Year.
I hope things turn around for your 'boys', Michael, and that the New Year starts on a good note. Happy New Year to you!
I wish you all a Happy New Year and better health for 2012.
I discovered a new cookie for this years baking. Butterscotch Slice Cookies. They are wonderful!
My New Years Resolution is.......DIET......eat healthy! Of course it always starts out well, here's hoping I can do a better job in 2012!!
Thanks for hosting Foodie Friday! Posting when you were so busy writing and not feeling well.
Happy New Year to you and your family:)
I'm thinking good thoughts for Mister and Zap, I hope they feel better and you're able to enjoy your New Year!
Back from the vet. The barium didn't show an obstruction, but the regular X-ray revealed a slightly enlarged heart and mild pulmonary edema. Very scary. So Mister is on Lasix for a few days. He is at home with us, thank goodness. The vet said to walk Mister as usual but keep him on the Hills I/d diet until GI symptoms resolve. Thanks for all of your well wishes. We appreciate them very much.
No words needed for these delightful images, Michael Lee. Sure do hope that Mister and Zap are getting better.
Happy New Year to you and your family. ~ Sarah
Fabulous photos, Michael! Happy New Year!..Christine

It breaks my heart to read about the ills of Mister and Zap. They certainly are family members and it's so difficult a situation that you're going thru. All my best to you.
Hope things are better with Mister and Zap today! I can't wait till your new book is out April 9th. I'm loving the Kindle and i'm now reading Acquainted with the night!!! wonderful...thanks again Pat H
