Sweet Talk: Valentine's Day Dessert

Red velvet cupcakes are a food group at Rattlebridge Farm. We eat them for breakfast, lunch, and tea. But these delightful confections are especially welcome on Valentine's Day.

Sweet Tarts are piled into champagne glasses, and the
message du jour is waiting for my sweetheart.

But first, let's eat cupcakes.
Paula Deen's recipe is scrumptious. You can find it here.

Then it's time for a little sweet talk.

If I owned a candy company, I might be tempted to invent some off-beat sayings for Sweet Tarts.

Pick Up Your Socks
Stop Dieting!
Start Living
Laugh Right Now
Wink More
Don't Cry
Eat Cake
If you owned a candy company, what sayings would you invent?

  1. Love your ideas for the candy quotes! Also, in that first pic, I have that tablecloth too!

  2. WOW- I loooove that staircase!

Your quotes for the new hearts are hilarious. Especially the socks, haha.

  3. I want to try and make these red velvet cupcakes. They are so pretty and so perfect for Valentine's Day. Beautiful table for two. Say hello to your Valentine for me! :)

  4. You just can't beat red velvet cake or cupcakes. Yum!

  5. I just love your blog! The red velvet cupcakes look devine.

  6. Yum! Those look good - even tho I am not a big fan of red velvet cake.
Love your description of Winter and messages for the candy hearts. :D
Another cold, dreary day - rinse - repeat. I am so ready for Spring and praying we don't have the storms we have had the last couple of years.

  7. Last winter was wicked, wasn't it? We're supposed to get a blast of cold temps this weekend, then back up to 52 degrees on Monday. Dim, sunless days are particularly hard for bloggers--we are always chasing daylight for our photographs! Lol

  8. These made the "sun" shine at my house! Love red velvet anything... I ran across a recipe for red velvet popcorn the other day on Pinterest that I want to try. Your puff pastry pot pie is on the menu for our cold yucky weekend! Thanks Michael...

  9. An inspiration as always Michael! This is wonderful. Your farmhouse table is fabulous, too.

  10. Oh, I love this romantic table for two. What a gorgeous staircase! Wishing I had one of those red velvet goodies for my breakfast this morning. LOL
Happy Valentine's Day, Michael Lee. ~ Sarah

  11. Looks so pretty, Michael Lee! I'd love to have one of those tasty cupcakes with my Diet Dr. Pepper.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  12. What a fabulous spot for a table for two! Your red velvet cupcakes DO look perfect for any meal -- yum! I like your alternate slogans for the valentine candy -- clever!

  13. Velvet cupcakes and a cozy spot for wonderful is that...Beautiful setting!

  14. A food group...funny!!! They are so pretty, though, and obviously tasty. Might as well make 'em a food group! Very pretty!

  15. gosh i don't get around much anymore, love your new look, i had to snoop all over and see your digs again :) as in spoon, dirt and house!

  17. I'd love a job creating labels for Sweet Tarts! Wouldn't that be fun? Of course, I might need to take some time off from my other job naming OPI nail polish colors . . . or yet my other job designing cupcake liners . . . There are just too many fun things to do out there! Your cupcake looks scrumptious! Happy Valentine's Day.
