Cusp of Spring Tablescape

Cusp-of-Spring Tablescape

Spring is almost here. Grass and bulbs are pushing through the warming earth,
reaching for the light. Waiting for spring requires a leap of faith. The days are short and dark; the wind and rain seem endless. But if we can just hold on, there is verdance on the other side of winter.

"I believe in the sun when it's not shining,
I believe in love even when I feel it not,
I believe in God even when He is silent.”

                                                                                                    --Irish Saying

St. Patrick's Day is the herald of green days. Today's tablescape was inspired by the irrepressible force of growing things--black soil and sprigs.

"There is not a tree in heaven higher than the tree of patience."
                                                  --Irish Saying

“Don't give cherries to pigs or advice to fools."

"There is no cold to compare with the cold of spring,
nor is there heat to compare with the heat of autumn.”)
                                                     --Irish Weather Saying

"If it is not dry, it is better wet."
(In other words, make the best of bad weather.)

"It won't always be raining."

I love your Spring greens. Just a bit here and there and not overwhelming. We're beginning to see some of that lovely green popping up here and there outside. So delightful for the senses and soul.

I am half Irish --my maiden name began with a O' -- so I loved this post, and all your other Irish themed posts this week, Michael! I've visited Ireland many times and hope to go back many more times--there isn't a country on earth with friendlier people. I always feel like I am "home" when I am there.

I love the green and black together. It is such a pretty combination to remind us that Spring will come - sometime! I love the table linens too. The black paisley is so striking. All of the Spring time tables look so nice and I could be doing a snow and ice table based on our weather. But I will just enjoy the beauties of Spring - the colors just make you happy don't they?
