Foodie Friday: Summer Food

I knew summer would pick up speed after July 4th (it always does for some reason), but I didn't expect it to move this fast. Can you believe it's almost August?
In barely eight weeks, we'll be thinking about the cuisine of fall.

But today, my thoughts are firmly centered on summer food.
What's on your "must have" list, the food that symbolizes summer?

Here are a few favorites:

  1. The thing I most look forward to is a tomato sandwich on good ole white bread with mayo, S&P! Wish I had one of those pretty yellow cupcakes to go with my coffee right now though too:@)

  2. I'm with Lynn. I look forward to tomatoes, especially tomato sandwiches. Add some basil mayo and you have heaven for me.

Fresh cherries are another treat and I've brought a salad with cherries, goat cheese & pistachios today. Thank you so much for hosting and I hope you have a lovely weekend.

  4. There is nothing like a tomato right off the vine so I agree with Sam and Lynn. It is hard to select just one thing...I also love the light pasta salads for dinner and homemade ice cream!

  8. I am all about tomatoes in the summer! Nothing beats a garden fresh tomato on a salad or a sandwich, fried up crisp, or packed away for winters savory stews!

  26. I agree! Summer does seem to pass us by in the blink of an eye. All of those foods look wonderful. Such a pretty post.

I've linked my Farmstead waffles this week. They'd make a good breakfast at any time of the year but imagine them topped with summer fruit and a little whipped cream. Yum!

Thanks for hosting. I appreciate the opportunity to share my recipe.
