Foodie Friday

Welcome to the July 6th Foodie Friday.

Summer always feels a bit endless until July 4th, then the days move faster and faster. The long, sweltering days keep us indoors. I don't know about you, but the heat doesn't put a dent (sadly) in my appetite. If I'm not cooking, I love to order spicy shrimp, boiled or fried.
Somehow it compliments the peppery outdoor heat.

What about a wrapped up wrap?
A favorite indoor activity: canning.
Summer just wouldn't be the same without barbecue.
A light summery meal: quiche and salad.

Summer cries out for a tall glass of lemonade and at least two straws. Lots of lemon slices, too.
When all else fails, I imagine the perfect summer meal. Sparkling blue water,
lemony light, a cold beverage, and a cooling breeze.

Does the heat affect your menu planning?
What's your favorite summertime recipe?

To add your recipe to the Foodie Friday linky party, look below for the blue Inlinkz frog. Add your permalink and select an image. It may take a few seconds for the entry to process. A red X on your photo allows you to delete your entry if you make an error. The Foodie Friday badge (or button--look for a picture of white cupcakes) is located on the right sidebar if you wish to add it to your FF post. If this is your first time to participate in Foodie Friday, a tutorial is available.

  1. Summer doesn't put a damper on my appetite either but it does make we want to keep the oven turned off and make my husband man the grill! Hope you're staying cool and had a delicious 4th :)

  3. What a lovely roundup of summer foods. The heat affect my appetite, but unfortunately it doesn't make it go away...

I've brought a granita, a flavorful Italian icy dessert that perfect for this heat and it doesn't need an ice cream maker.

Thanks for hosting Foodie Friday. We sure appreciate you.

  4. I'm all about the no-cook meals! And how ironic that we have to do all of our canning when it's sweltering outside, and have a steamy, boiling-hot kitchen, too?! I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. Thank you for hosting!
    Cheers, Andrea

It does not affect my appetite, but it does affect what I want to eat.
    Stay cool.

  8. Your summertime food selections look tantalizing! I'd love the shrimp, maybe the bar-b-que sandwich or the quiche...it has been an extremely hot summer and heating the kitchen by cooking is not appealing! I load my husband with chicken, burgers, roasts etc...when he gets the notion to grill and we have meat for days!
I hope you have a blessed weekend and I appreciate you hosting,
    Kathy

  9. Beautiful post! The heat definitely effects my cooking...too hot to turn on the stove makes for fresh garden salads in our meals!

  11. Hi Michael Lee. I'm always so envious of the northern hemisphere when it's enjoying spring. We've had a cold winter so far here in Aus. Looking forward to things warming up.

  14. The heat doesn't affect my appetite either but it does affect the way I cook. Lots more salads and grilled meats and a lot less heavy foods like bread, potatoes and gravy. Also our desserts tend to be more fruits like peaches, strawberries and watermelons. Oddly enough, I never lose any weight with this lighter eating either.....:(
