Welcome to the July 6th Foodie Friday.
Summer always feels a bit endless until July 4th, then the days move faster and faster. The long, sweltering days keep us indoors. I don't know about you, but the heat doesn't put a dent (sadly) in my appetite.
Somehow it compliments the peppery outdoor heat.
A favorite indoor activity: canning.
Summer just wouldn't be the same without barbecue.
A light summery meal: quiche and salad
Summer cries out for a tall glass of lemonade and at least two straws.
Lots of lemon slices, too.
When all else fails, I imagine the perfect summer meal. Sparkling blue water,
lemony light, a cold beverage, and a cooling breeze.

Summer doesn't put a damper on my appetite either but it does make we want to keep the oven turned off and make my husband man the grill! Hope you're staying cool and had a delicious 4th :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a wonderful 4th, Michael Lee! Those were some great Summertime food pics you shared. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely roundup of summer foods. The heat affect my appetite, but unfortunately it doesn't make it go away...
ReplyDeleteI've brought a granita, a flavorful Italian icy dessert that perfect for this heat and it doesn't need an ice cream maker.
Thanks for hosting Foodie Friday. We sure appreciate you.
Sam
I'm all about the no-cook meals! And how ironic that we have to do all of our canning when it's sweltering outside, and have a steamy, boiling-hot kitchen, too?! I'm looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time. Thank you for hosting!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Andrea
I will have one of each please. :D
ReplyDeleteIt does not affect my appetite, but it does affect what I want to eat.
Stay cool.
Wonderful food ideas for summer! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThe food looks awesome! Thanks for hosting! Hope you had a lovely 4th!

Your summertime food selections look tantalizing! I'd love the shrimp, maybe the bar-b-que sandwich or the quiche...it has been an extremely hot summer and heating the kitchen by cooking is not appealing! I load my husband with chicken, burgers, roasts etc...when he gets the notion to grill and we have meat for days!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a blessed weekend and I appreciate you hosting,
Kathy
Beautiful post! The heat definitely effects my cooking...too hot to turn on the stove makes for fresh garden salads in our meals!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful choices...and so many! Great post.
ReplyDeleteHi Michael Lee. I'm always so envious of the northern hemisphere when it's enjoying spring. We've had a cold winter so far here in Aus. Looking forward to things warming up.

The last few days have made me want to eat cold things like ice-cream it's been around or close to 100 degress.
ReplyDeleteThank you for hosting.
Nice features this week! Thank you for hosting and having me. Hugs,

The heat doesn't affect my appetite either but it does affect the way I cook. Lots more salads and grilled meats and a lot less heavy foods like bread, potatoes and gravy. Also our desserts tend to be more fruits like peaches, strawberries and watermelons. Oddly enough, I never lose any weight with this lighter eating either.....:(
ReplyDeleteBeautiful summer food choices! Thank you for hosting the party!!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely we eat lighter in the summer and because we are in Maine we have lots and lots of seafood. My favorite summer dessert is linked today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and yes the heat really affects my food choices. The last few days in this heat wave, I've been having a smoothie with yogurt for both breakfast and lunch.

ReplyDeleteOh that picnic looks wonderful..the canned jars are so colorful..gives me new ideas. Happy Summer!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the heat, but summer boredom sure adds on the calories...can't wait for my summer session to start Monday just so I have motivation to use the campus gym. : )
ReplyDeleteA comida não basta estar gostosa. Tem que estar bonita. Muito bonito. E deve estar uma delicia.
ReplyDeleteMichael Lee~ what a great spread! Lots of lighter menu items for when the temps soar! I am such a water baby... I head for water (or AC) when it's too hot. Now if I could just get someone to serve me all that beautiful food on your post! Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeletePlease stop by and link up to ON THE MENU MONDAY!
