Foodie Friday -- December 26-27

It's time for Foodie Friday, when the best cooks gather to exchange recipes. Come on inside where it's warm. I've got soup on the stove.

I hope everyone had a lovely holiday. I visited with my mother, who'd just
gotten out of the hospital. She looked great and was the life of the party. No one could believe that she'll celebrate her 86th birthday in a few months.

We veered away from traditional fare this year: Bandy smoked a beef brisket, and he'll share his recipe in a future post.

What was on your holiday menu?

If you are participating in Foodie Friday, locate the blue Inlinkz icon in the lower, left-hand portion of this post. Click on the icon and follow the directions. After you complete the process, you will see a red "x" beside your name. This allows you to delete your link if you made an error; the red "x" is visible to you only. Pretty please do not pin images from the FF thumbnails. Visit the source
blogs. Thanks.

  3. Michael Lee, glad to hear your mom is doing well and they you were with her for the holidays. Treasure these times and make them frequent. I lost my mom on Thanksgiving morning, and though she was 99, it isn't easy to let go of one's mom.
Enjoy the holidays. The potato soup looks delicious. I'm going to put that one on the menu for this weekend. Made chicken soup this afternoon. It's cold here, so relaxing in the evening with a hot cup of soup is just the ticket.
Thanks for your dear friendship. All the best to you and your family for the coming new year.

  11. I'm relieved to hear that your Mom has recovered so quickly from being in the hospital, ML. You are so very lucky to still have her around to laugh with & enjoy. You're also very lucky to have a son who is a chef!! I'm looking forward to his recipe for brisket.
Thanks for hosting FF during this very busy season. I hope you were able to rest & that the doc is doing well after his surgery, too. What a year you guys have had!!!! Hurry up, 2014!!
