Foodie Friday and Everything Else

Happy December 1st. I hope you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving. My mother has made great strides since her illness last summer, and she set out vintage Santas and even made fried apples. Everyone brought food, and we were so busy eating, no one remembered to take a picture. My great niece kept us all entertained with her bright personality and charming ways. During the holiday, we had the best news: I will be a great aunt for the second time. I'm excited to see what you brought to this week's Foodie Friday and Everything Else. And I love hearing about you, from the weather in your neck of the woods to your kitchen adventures to your holiday activities.
My husband helped me hang the outdoor wreaths. Fresh greenery never lasts long in Tennessee, but it sure smells divine.

I'm pleased to share your favorites from last week's party.

  8. I'm so happy you could spend time with your dear mom and she is feeling better.
The tree is very pretty and bright. Your hubby was so sweet to help ypu hand those lovely wreaths in the fences.
    Thank you for the inspiration.

  9. Extremely happy to hear your mom is doing well. I wish you would share some photos of her vintage Santa figures. As I was putting my Santa pieces in the Irish pine cupboard today, it occurred to me how special many of them are. We pick up these little pieces though the years with little thought to how much they will mean as the years click on by. I was teaching elementary school in the late 80s and early 90s when Mary Englebreit's work was extremely popular. I received many of her things as gifts from students through through years. I put out all my MC Christmas tins above the Irish pine cupboard mixed with greens and Santa figures. I smile each time I look at these special little gifts from students years ago.
Love your tree and the distant view. Are those antlers on the tree or branches?

    1. Your Irish cupboard sounds so cozy and enchanting, Sarah. All of those memories are smile-makers! I still love Mary Englebreit. Yes--those are (faux) antlers on the tree.

  10. Thanks for hosting.
Your outdoor wreaths on the gates are beautiful.

  16. Hi Michael Lee! How nice to know your little mother is doing well and you all had a nice Thanksgiving! I love the snap of your tree. Are you in harm's way of the terrible fires? My heart just hurts for all of the people who have lost their homes! Take care, my friend.
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  19. It sounds like you had a lovely Thanksgiving! That's great news on your mother and on you being a great aunt again!!

  20. Joyous news of your mother! At their age, each holiday becomes more precious. Your tree looks beautiful. I hope you can relax and enjoy this holiday season now that the headaches of your home renovation are(mostly) behind you. I'm assuming your area is safe from the fires. The devastation has been heartbreaking to watch. I can't even wrap my brain around it. Here's to you and yours sharing a wonderful holiday season and a new year filled with blessings! Of course, you already know of one such blessing: the upcoming birth of your second great niece or nephew!

  21. Thanks for hosting!
    Loving the posts this week!
    So many great ideas!
