A Simple Spring Table

I need no prodding to enjoy an afternoon on the porch. In early March, the trees are still bare, and the view shows a wide sweep of sky and mountains. It's a view with an expiration date: soon we'll look into greenery, and one end of the porch will resemble a tree house.

Today, the rain pushed out of middle Tennessee, leaving a spring-like sky, blue with gauzy white clouds. At noon, I found hydrangeas at the grocery, and their soft colors reminded me of the hilltop. I knew a tablescape wouldn't be far behind.

Cute melamine bunny plates add a splash of color to this simple table.

  1. I love the Simple Spring Table. The description of the sky was perfection.

  2. Your table makes me happy. I haven't gotten my bunnies out yet, but that will be changing very soon.

  3. This just makes me smile! Love the blue stripes and the polka dot ceramic milk carton {?} and of course those adorable plates! I swear I can feel the spring breeze...

  4. Love your table. So springy and pretty! I recently ordered some of your books and I have to say I am hooked! I noticed in one of the books it says you lived in a renovated funeral home. That is so cool? Do you have pictures? I think that would be a very interesting blog post!

    1. Hi, Diane. We sold the renovated funeral home in 2005 (reluctantly). Hope you enjoy the books!

  5. Gorgeous as always! Love the soft colors of spring and the bunnies!

  6. So cute! Love the Kate Spade textiles and tools!

  7. ADORABLE! I'm craving Spring, but then again, I always do! That little Spring weather tease we had a couple of weeks back didn't help matters!

  8. Your table is beautiful.

  9. Simply beautiful, Michael Lee!

  10. Everything is so lovely. Thanks for sharing.

  11. What a lovely table. Hopefully, you will have inspired me. Despite my gobs and gobs of dishes, I just cannot get motivated to set a pretty table. Thanks, Michael.

  12. I love your table! And being on a porch makes the meal extra special. I love the glasses, table linens, and of course the fresh flowers! Yay for spring!

  13. Your table is so pretty! What a perfect setting on your beautiful porch. I love the blues accented with those adorable bunny plates. I am dreaming of Spring, and we have been teased with the unseasonably warmer temperatures here in Oklahoma. I hope that you are having a wonderful week!!!

  14. This tablescape in its setting of the porch just makes anyone feel the wonderful warmth and beauty of Spring! So, so beautiful! Love the cow creamer with the happy daisies and those gorgeous hydrangeas!. My hydrangea bushes are budding and unfortunately we are expecting snow on Sunday. I may have to throw my body over it!

  15. What a beautiful table and how charming your porch must be! Blessings, Cecilia

  16. Ooh...I'm swooning over that pretty blue color ❤️. The hydrangeas are simply stunning as your centerpiece, and the melamine bunny plates are adorable. How cute is that polka dot creamer!

  17. Your porch is the perfect spot for dining and I love your pretty spring table! I'm looking forward to bunny season and the leaves greening up on the trees. I'm afraid our hydrangeas may not bloom this year with our late cold snap this week after weeks of 70 degree temperatures and snow this morning. Hope you're warm and cozy on the hilltop this weekend. ♥

  18. Very pretty! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
